Sometimes
we have to trust God, even when we don’t feel like it. I heard a
preacher tell this story about his son and eating vegetables. At dinner he told
his son to eat his spinach, but the boy ate everything on his plate except
that. When the father saw this he asked his son why he did not eat his
vegetables. The son said, “I don’t feel like it.” The father said, “I told you
to eat your spinach, I didn’t say you had to feel like doing it. Son, you can
still do it even if you don’t feel like it.”
Don’t avoid your “spiritual vegetables.” God calls us to
trust Him totally, to study His Word, to love our enemies, to do what is right
when everyone else is wrong, and to represent Christ in this sinful world. These are the things we must do no
matter how we feel. Why? Because they will make us
stronger. Ask God today for
strength to move past your feelings and to do what He is calling you to do!
