No matter what you have done, if you are in Christ then you are a new person! I believe many Christians get stuck in bondage because they have not fully realized who they are in Christ. Obviously His ultimate sacrifice is what restores our relationship with the Father. However when we accept Christ as our Savior we are made alive spiritually. We can live in a way that we never could before.
Just as Christ physically died and rose from the dead; we have died to our old ways and have truly been born again. Paul tells us that as Christians we can count ourselves dead to sin, but alive in Christ (Rom. 6:11) and that we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Rom 12:2). How? Colossians 3 opens up telling us to seek things that are above (God’s Word, how He wants us to live, etc.) and not to set our affection on worldly things (sin, your worries, meaningless issues). You have the power to overcome ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that may be stifling you. Actively and persistently control where your mind is focused. Walk in this newness of life and get ready for a blessing.
