Are you involved in a feel good
ministry? Ministry takes hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. To
minister means to serve. The work we do for Christ should ultimately meet other
people’s spiritual needs and bring people to Christ. Selfless dedication like this can be
painful sometimes. Just like Jesus put the world before Himself
and it caused Him great agony; real ministry can be hurtful sometimes. It should
hurt sometimes because when we put others before ourselves we are conforming to
the image of Christ.
There is nothing wrong with being involved in a ministry that
gets recognition, has a nice budget, or that gives you a ‘warm feeling’
sometimes. However these are not reasons for ministry.
We are to represent Christ in this world. That is not an easy or fun task, but
it is our ultimate mission. When you work for Christ….when you LIVE for Christ
you will have some pain. Remember just like He told Paul “My grace is
sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)
