Wednesday Word 2/29/2012

“In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. Proverbs 14:23 KJV

“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.Proverbs 14:23 NIV

God is looking for people who are ready and willing to work for Him. Don’t just talk about what you can do for Jesus. Get out in the world and work for Him! In our earthly jobs we get compensated for our work. Many of us get paid even more when we work overtime and are rewarded for outstanding performance. How much greater do you think that concept is with God?

Just talking leads to nothing. Are you working in some way for the Lord? If so, do you see positive results? The only proof of authentic ministry is positive godly results in other people’s lives. Many of us work hard, but for the wrong reasons and motives. Forget about success in this world, aim for success with God. For those who know Christ, that is the greatest success and reaps the greatest rewards.

Merging Christianity and Islam?

So…Pastor Rick Warren (Purpose Driven Life) is the leader of an initiative to bridge the gap between Christians and Muslims. Warren has been working on this project called King’s Way for years, according to the OrangeCounty Register newspaper. An effort like this may not seem harmful at first, but the results can be catastrophic. Whenever Christians “join forces” with those from other faiths we have to be careful not to not compromise our beliefs. Otherwise our ministry is ruined.

King’s Way focuses on the similarities of Christianity and Islam. An EX Ministries post says that they are focusing on the similarities between the Bible and the Koran along with the fact that both faiths promote loving God and other people. There may seem to be many similarities, however, the few differences are what separate our faith from all others. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven! There is nothing wrong with being kind to other people. We know Jesus called us to love everyone. But when Christians become allies with another faith and even claim that we serve the same God as Muslims…that is a BIG problem.

Our primary mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus, not make friends. This effort looks good to the press, seems nice, and backs the ‘tolerance’ movement going on today. It will not, though, aid true Christians in helping those from other faiths realize that they are eternally lost without Christ.

Tuesday Truth 2/28/2012

True success requires hard work! In our society today there is an ever-increasing desire for the shortcut to success. No such route exists. Patience, dedication, and sacrifice are the only ways to have true lasting results of your efforts; especially when working for the Lord. There are some quick ways to reach a level that looks like success, but the truth will eventually be shown.

The Bible tells us that we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:9). You get out what you put in. There are some times where you can fool some people, but you cannot get over on Christ. In working for the Lord; the reward He gives you will be EXACTLY what you deserve. Don’t try to cut corners in God’s work. It may hurt sometimes when other people SEEM to be getting over, but Jesus knows. Have patience, work hard, and know that God will reward you accordingly.

Monday Motivation 2/27/2012

God wants you to be successful! He already has plans laid out for you. All you have to do is simply walk where He leads you. The Lord gave us His Word, along with the Holy Spirit, and the opportunity to commune with Him in prayer as means for direction. He has already set you up to be successful in Him. When you take advantage of the opportunities He has given you, then you cannot fail.

Success with God may not be what you have envisioned as success. But success with God is the greatest success possible. Let go of what you think success is and seek to be complete in Christ. It may hurt for a while, but it will pay off greatly in the end. Proverbs tells us that our steps our directed by the Lord and that we cannot understand our own way (20:24). Walk where He leads you and be blessed!

Friday Freedom 2/24/2012

“More about Jesus I would know,
More of His grace to others show;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn,
More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be,
Showing the things of Christ to me.”

More knowledge about Him is waiting right there in His Word. Take advantage of it. Jesus wants you to know Him on a much more intimate and deeper level than you do now. Learn how He operates. Learn what true Love looks like. Discover what it means to have peace beyond all understanding. Find out what it means to be truly complete. Study the love letter God wrote just for you and be blessed!

Thursday Thought 2/23/2012

How well do you know Jesus? Most Christians would say “pretty well” or something along those lines. Here is another question for you. How well do you know God’s Word? To strengthen our relationship with Christ some people think we have to go on some great spiritual journey or in the wilderness to get some alone time with God. However the real way to know Jesus more is very simple. This would be studying and meditating on the Bible.

Jesus Christ is the Living Word (John 1). He IS God’s Word in human form. He was a living Bible! Therefore when we study the Bible, we are studying Jesus Christ. The Bible is the story of Jesus Christ and His love for humanity. When we let it principles sink into our minds we get a glimpse into the mind of Christ. Your knowledge of the Bible is proportional to the depth of your relationship with Jesus Christ.

How well do you know the Word?

Wednesday Word 2/22/2012

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” ~2 Timothy 3:16
The Bible is our guidebook for life. It is not like any other book. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. Through men’s hands the Holy Spirit wrote this instruction manual to us. It is written by God Himself. It is true. It is errorless. It does not contradict itself. Nothing is missing from it. It is God speaking.

If you want to live pleasing in God’s sight, then listen to what He is saying to you. Study the truths of His Word and let them saturate your heart and your mind. Accept them as true. Let them encourage, direct, correct, and protect you. Live the life that Christ wants you to live. Get close to the book that Jesus wants you to study above all else.

Tuesday Truth 2/21/2012

The truths in God’s Word can be VERY painful, but we still need them! The severity of the Bible can be likened to rubbing alcohol on a cut or scrape. That feeling is very painful! But we brace ourselves and put the alcohol on the wound anyway. Why? Because we need it and we know we need it. The alcohol hurts, but it also purifies and cleanses.

The Bible purifies and cleanses our spiritual lives. Many things it tells us can hurt. No, many things it tells us WILL hurt. We may realize that our lifestyle, ways of thinking, habits, or even our ideas about God are wrong. But we need to study the Bible anyway. Just like the alcohol it hurts, but deep down Christians know we need Bible study and meditation often. Don’t ignore the truths in God’s Word. Let them purify and cleanse the infections of your spirit.

Monday Motivation 2/20/2012

God loves you so much that He gave all the instructions and directions you will ever need in His Word! The Bible is a love letter to us from the Lord. It is the greatest true love story ever told. It shows how He has compassion on His people and how He deals with them. He shows us how we should carry ourselves in order to please Him. More importantly, in His Word God tells us how we can receive eternal life. He wanted you to know that. You are important to Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Living Word (John 1). God has given us the ability to grow closer to Him through Bible study. When Christians study and meditate on God’s Word more, then our relationship with Jesus becomes stronger. God gave you everything you need to know in His book. Take advantage of it!

Friday Freedom 2/17/2012

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and grieves to bear
What a privilege to carry
EVERYTHING to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh! What needless pains we bear
All because we do not carry
EVERYTHING to God in prayer

Are you giving up your peace? Are you adding unnecessary pain to your life? If you know Jesus, I mean really KNOW Him, then you don’t have to at all. You can give all your issues over to Him. Not only is He able to handle your problems, He actually wants to take them on as well. The Bible tells us that if we give everything over to God, then He will give us peace (Philippians 4:6-7). A peace so deep that we won’t even be able to understand it. Stop holding on to problems that are beyond your understanding. Wrap your mind in the peace that surpasses human comprehension. Take advantage of your friendship with Jesus and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!

Thursday Thought 2/16/2012

Are you a good friend to God? Take a moment to think about all the qualities you want in a good friend. These traits could include honesty, dependability, caring, attentive to you, interested in your well-being, sticks with you through ups and downs, and loves you for who you are. If you have been born again, then you know Christ is all of these and more.  But what about you? When we want to stay friends with someone it can be observed through our actions. Do your actions tell God you want to be His friend and that you are thankful for His friendship?

Do you intentionally make time in your schedule for giving Jesus your full attention? Do you accept God for who He is or try to change Him to what you want Him to be? Are you God’s friend when life is a disaster? Can God depend on you to follow His instructions? Are you a good friend to God? Are you telling the truth?

Wednesday Word 2/15/2012

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” ~John 15:13
The greatest love from the greatest Friend. If you are a child of God thinking about that should just ignite your spirit! God is really your friend. We brag and drop names about other sinful people; sometimes even lying about being friends with certain people just to look important. Like people in high positions, those who may be famous for something, and so on. Well my best friend’s name is God Almighty. He is known for creating the universe, redeeming mankind, and making a way out of no way. Hopefully He is your best friend too.

Take advantage of being friends with the Lord. Make sure you set aside time for Him every single day. Stop stressing over those things that you cannot change and let the One who can handle it do what He does best. Stop looking for “love” from all the wrong places and people. Let Him love you like only He can. Christ is so loving that He is still your friend even when you are not His.

Tuesday Truth 2/14/2012

No one can love you like Jesus can! No one loves you like Jesus does. There is no greater display of love than someone giving their life for a friend (John 15:13). That is how much Jesus loves you. He wanted to be close friends with you so much that He allowed himself to be brutally murdered; just for you. As God, Christ knew every single wrong that you would commit. Yet He died for you anyway.

God loves you with a special type of love known as Agape love. This is real, Godly, self-sacrificing love. The way God loves you is totally and completely selfless. His only concern in a relationship with you is to make you better. And He proved that when He sent His Son to die for you. Anytime, day or night, He is ready to listen and fix your problems. (Personally, I’m fascinated that the Creator of the universe cares about my feelings). No matter how bad you hurt or disrespect Him, He is ready and willing to forgive you. His love for you is truly and completely unconditional! The greatest most powerful being loves you in the greatest most powerful way. Nothing can separate you from it (Romans 8:35). Smile right now because Christ loves you.
(Yes, you!)

Monday Motivation 2/13/2012

God is the ultimate friend! In Him you have more than you would ever want or need in a friend. No person, whether they want to admit it or not, wants to be a loner. God did not create us that way. The good news is that you don’t have to be, ever. Christians are friends of God due to the salvation work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Every Christian has God’s Spirit, The Holy Spirit, living inside them. Jesus promised that this would happen in John 14:16. The Spirit never leaves us (even when we may want Him to). He helps us pray to the Father, helps us examine ourselves, gives us the correct interpretation of the Bible, comforts us when we are grieved, and so much more. Whatever you need, He has it. He is your ultimate friend!

Friday Freedom 2/10/2012

Victory is mine,
victory is mine,
victory today is mine.
I told Satan to get thee behind,
victory today is mine!!!

Claim it right now in Jesus’ name! What God has for you is yours and yours alone. If you are seeking Him and following His will, then you are bound for success. No matter who is trying to keep you down. Even if there is doubt trying to rise in your own mind. With Christ on your side you have victory through Him.

Thursday Thought 2/9/2012

When you try to figure out life on your own, does it ever work? We go through the cycle of struggling with God. He says this way, we say that way. Knowing the Lord is always right in the back of our minds, we press on anyway in our own strength. Just trying to see if our way could just possibly be better than what God says. Sometimes we even convince ourselves that whatever we want is what God wants. Then failure is inevitable.

So ask yourself, “does it ever work?” “Does following my own plans instead of trusting God all that way ever benefit me?” The answer is NO! (in case you are being stubborn with yourself). When we look back on those times where we were full of faith Jesus always stepped in and performed a miracle. Anytime we tried to take the lead it ended in a disaster. If you are resisting anything Jesus is trying to lead you to do then I only have one simple question for you…“WHY?”

Wednesday Word 2/8/2012

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”~ Romans 8:32
As Paul starts to wrap up this eighth chapter, he encourages his fellow believers in Christ. He has us to understand that we are more than conquerors. He reminds us that all things work together for the good of those that love God (hopefully that is you). He reminds us that God truly loves us! But he also puts a question on our minds.

This is obviously a rhetorical one. God gave His best just for us; His one and only Son! The Lord didn’t just throw something together to bring forth our Savior. He gave His only. He gave His best. He gave us Christ Jesus. If God did that just for sinful you; can there be anything good that He would withhold from you? Trust God. Follow God. Drop your sinful habits and receive your blessing!

Tuesday Truth 2/7/2012

God always has your best interest in mind. He cares about you more deeply than you could fathom. The way our lives play out can make us think otherwise, but the Lord is always faithful to us. Often times we base our perceptions of people off of what we know about them or what they have done in the past. If they have been trustworthy, then we come to feel that we can trust that person. If they have been faulty, then we tend not to trust them. So think to yourself, “has God been trustworthy throughout my life?”

After realizing the answer is a resounding “yes!” you should have no reason to worry. If you cannot think of any other reason God is faithful, then never forget that He gave His Son for you. Jesus Christ willingly suffered a painful and agonizing death JUST FOR YOU. The Lord put your well-being before His, just so you could truly enjoy life. He cared about you before you were even born. He still cares about you just as much now.

Monday Motivation 2/6/2012

God loves you and He will never lead you in the wrong direction. As followers of Christ sometimes He calls us to step out in faith. Jesus wants us to go against the norm. Usually where He is leading us is contrary to what we see most people doing; saying, thinking, acting like, etc. It often sounds good to go higher in the Lord, but when He actually gives an assignment the task can seem unnerving.

If you feel God is leading you somewhere out of the ordinary don’t be frightened. His mindset is so much different than that of this world. But we know that God always knows best! Confidently walk where He leads you; knowing that He loves you and has your best interest in mind.

Friday Freedom 2/3/2012

Jesus, You're the center of my joy,
all that's good and perfect comes from You.
You're the heart of my contentment, hope for all I do;
Jesus, You're the center of my joy.

When I've lost my direction, You're the compass for my way,
You're the fire and light when nights are long and cold.
In sadness, You are the laughter, that shatters all my fears,
when I'm all alone, Your hand is there to hold.
Everything good comes from Jesus Christ. He gives peace, joy, and direction when everything seems so distorted. Christ is faithful. When He is the center of all that you do there is no other option besides success and peace. All that is good and perfect comes from the Lord. Take advantage of His many blessings! No matter what situation you are in, Jesus is ALL that you need.
