Mind Control-Thursday Thought

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3 esv

Who controls your mind? No one may have ever asked you this question before, but it is a very important one. Sometime we look back on our actions for a period of time and wonder why we may be acting out of character. We focus so much on our actions and not on the mind. God is concerned about our minds. This is where all of our actions begin. Too often our though life is motivated by selfishness, greed, and anger. We give the enemy full control to do what he wants with us. But God has a better way.

Is God controlling your actions? Is God controlling your mind? The two questions are inseparable. A holy outlook on life creates an immensely positive impact for your life. A mind focused in Christ is able to smile when life is bitter. A mind saturated in the Spirit can speak blessings to those who curse you. A mind where Christ is on the throne will lead you focusing on what’s important and achieving your God given destiny instead of wasting time in anger, bitterness, and things/people that don’t matter. Is Christ ruling your mind? Then you should be happy, healthy, and free!

Mind Control-Wednesday Word

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

File:Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, 1976.jpg

There is a movie out entitled “Carrie” which is a remake of a 1970’s film of a high school girl who has been pushed too far. Her classmates taunt her until she reaches her breaking point. Using her powers of telekinesis, basically the ability to move objects with her mind, she wreaks havoc on everyone around her. This led to the demise of several people including Carrie herself. When we let our feelings control us we cause damage, not just in our own lives, but to those around us as well. But God has given us a different way to live.

Don’t let the world conform you to its image. Don’t be someone who is controlled by their feelings and ruins the lives of themselves and others. Let God change you by the renewing of your mind. Let Christ show you how to handle your thoughts and feelings correctly. When Christ reigns in your life you can have true peace. When Christ sits on the throne of your heart you can have true joy. Let Christ have control, not you. Let your mind be happy, healthy, and free!

Mind Control-Tuesday Truth

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2 esv

We were made to control our feelings. Most of us live the other way around. Our feelings control us. Someone says something we don’t like and we’re angry for the rest of the day. We get our hearts broken and we get sad to the point of prolonged depression. We stay in situations that are not good for us because we feel happy. Following our feelings and easily ruin our lives!

A mind stayed on Jesus will save you from being trapped in your feelings. Feelings are fickle, but God never changes.  Our feelings can change daily, hourly, or even minute to minute. When you make decisions based off something this flaky, then your life can be just as unstable. In Christ you can have a healthy thought life and express your emotions appropriately. In Christ you can be happy, healthy, and free!

Mind Control-Monday Motivation

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2 esv

God has given you the ability to live beyond your feelings! Emotions are a wonderful gift from God. Healthily expressed, they can be a wonderful thing. But too often we don’t control our feelings. We let our feelings control us. Having and expressing feelings isn’t a bad thing, though. We just need to learn how to control them. In Christ we can.

You don’t have to be a slave to your feelings. God is with you. In Christ you can learn to understand and express the way you feel in a positive manner. You can have peace in your mind. Christ is there for you. Let the joy of Christ control your mind; not your feelings. When Christ is in charge of your mind you can be happy, healthy, and free!

God's Will-Friday Freedom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 9:10 esv

Stay with the Lord. God is working out everything in His perfect timing. Ask Him to show you what to do. That’s what He made you for. Even when you mess up God will still help you. All the wisdom and direction you need can be found in Christ. Jesus loves you and will never lead you wrong. Who else can you say that about? Seek God’s will through prayer. Act on it. And you will be successful!

"There are so many things about the will of God
The things we don't understand because they seem so hard
We try to find the way that seems to be just right
But the way that we choose only leads us further from the light
But if we can learn to accept the things we cannot change
And never question God for we'll never know His way

We must accept what God allows
And we must never try to fell Him how
To order our lives
He has a plan in mind

He's the one who made you, created you, saved you
And He knows what's best for you
His will is good
It is acceptable and it's perfect"

God's Will-Thursday Thought

Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
    and refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8 esv

Besides Christ, who else is there to follow? Human beings have an innate desire in us to follow someone or something. God made us to follow Him, but too often we go and seek direction from other things. We would rather pay a psychic, read horoscopes, or simply trust our own intuition to see what our next steps in life should be. Even when those things disappoint we still run back. This is especially sad for Christians because we have direct access to God through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Who are you following? If it not the Lord, then you are lost. The Lord gave you everything needed to follow His will through His Spirit and His Word. The Spirit helps us understand the Bible, tells us what to pray, and speaks to our spirits. You just have to be willing to listen. Even if you’re not following something else you’re still caught in the enemy’s trap if you’re not following God’s will. Stop trying to do it without God. Ask Him what to do then act on it. Then you will succeed!

God's Will-Wednesday Word

Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
    and refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8 esv

Trusting God will lead to trusting His wisdom. As we go through life we gain more and more knowledge. Each day we learn more and more. Often times we are able to use that knowledge with wisdom. All of our life experiences help understand who we and the world we live in a little better. Knowledge is simply the accumulating information while wisdom is understanding how to properly apply that knowledge in the affairs of life.

Whatever you know, however long you have lived, you are not as knowledgeable or as wise as The Lord. He has already been around and He has all knowledge. God controls everything! Where you can use your limited knowledge to predict how a situation will turn out; Jesus already knows. There is no end to His wisdom. Don’t trust your own wisdom. Trust the wisdom of Christ. Then you will succeed!

God's Will-Tuesday Truth

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6 esv

Lining up with God’s will is lining up with victory! Life has taught me a lesson about being under authority. Anytime I bring an idea to a supervisor it will be supported if it is in line with the organization’s missions and goals. If what I want to do will further the plan of those over me, then they are all for it. Otherwise they are not. Of course this means that we must spend time studying and becoming familiar with the mission of any organization I am a part of.

God, your ultimate supervisor, has an amazing plan for your life. He has a mission that he wants you to know and complete. Any endeavor that you pursue that does not support His mission will fail. Why? Because The Lord does not support it! You won’t fulfill your destiny by telling God what you want to do. God already has His mission. Ask Him how your life should match up with His mission. Then you will succeed!

God's Will-Monday Motivaiton

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6 esv

God already has your life planned out. You just need to walk into it! There are many benefits of serving a God who is all-knowing, all-powerful, and exists outside of time. He knows everything! He already sees you and me at our greatest potential, in His likeness, and and just like Him. He knows all of our faults and still loves us. He knows our greatest talents and strengths, because He gave them to us, and wants to show how to use them for the greatest effectiveness; His glory.

Line up with God’s will. When you are on the side of the Creator and Master of the universe success is the only possible outcome. In your planning for the future consult the Lord on what He would have you to do. He wants to make you great, but Christ won’t force you into anything. Get the absolute BEST for your life. Seek God’s will!

You Will Prevail-Friday Freedom

Lordhow many are my foes!
    Many are rising against me;
many are saying of my soul,

there is no salvation for him in God.
But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head.
 cried aloud to the Lord,
and he answered me from his holy hill.
Psalm 3:1-4 esv

Keep this on my wall to keep my mind in the right place!

When you live a righteous life in Christ God will bless your endeavors. When God blesses you immensely people will be jealous. Don’t waste time worrying about people whose opinions do not matter. Keep looking to Christ. When The Lord is in your plans they will succeed regardless of any opposition. Pray for those who try and keep you down. Ask Jesus to give you strength. Keep your eye on the prize. You will prevail!

"I've got evidence

I've got confidence

I'm a conqueror

I know that I win

I know who I am

God wrote it in His plan

For me

My name is VICTORY!"

You Will Prevail-Thursday Thought

'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:30-31 esv

Have you ever thought about why a person is a hater? When someone sets themselves against us we easily can set ourselves back against them. Without thinking we sometimes tend to hate them back. Sadly this probably how the person has been treated their entire life. Most haters are bitter and angry people because they grew up in bitter and angry situations. Life has hardened their hearts and they are unable to love, show respect, or even be courteous. They need to experience the love of Christ.

Do you love God enough to love your haters? God loves us often times through our interactions with other people. That is how all of us came to know Christ; someone loved us enough to share Jesus with us. Haters need to know God’s love; to either lead them to Christ or to be restored. Instead of wasting time talking about how much someone has wronged you stop and pray that they would come to know God’s love. Maybe The Lord has placed you in that family, job, church, or other relationship to display the love of Christ to your haters. You will prevail in Christ. Your haters need to prevail too. In Christ you can help them.

You Will Prevail-Wednesday Word

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 esv

We recognize God’s provision most when trouble is present in our lives. Although we would try to deny this, this is the usual case for most of us. When life is going great we seem to feel like we don’t need God that much. We’re handling life pretty well on our own. But if we ever need Him again we will let Him. God sometimes has to put stumbling blocks in our paths so we realize that He alone is our help.

Never forget that Christ is your only help. The people and the issues you think are bringing you down were allowed by The Lord to lift you up. Ask Jesus to shift your focus back to Him. Haters are a sign that you are doing something right. Most times they are upset because of a shortcoming in their own lives. Pray for them and keep moving. God is your help in trouble. Run to Him! In Christ you will prevail.

You Will Prevail-Tuesday Truth

When evildoers assail me
    to eat up my flesh,

my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
Psalm 27:2 esv

God uses haters to stop us from becoming them. Let’s look at David and Saul. When David was a boy Saul was King of Israel. Plain and simple King Saul was an egotistical and arrogant jerk. He was a hater in every sense of the word. As a grown man he tried to kill David on several occasions, starting when David was just a child. David went on the run and Saul died trying to end David’s life. Saul missed his destiny trying to block David from his. BUT... without Saul David would have been Saul number two. David was handsome, a prolific writer, and a mighty warrior. He was especially famous as the one who slayed Goliath. David had a high propensity to be just as evil and arrogant as Saul, but his running from Saul and God’s provision made David humble and ready to be king.

Your haters are keeping you from becoming a hater yourself. We all have the potential to be full of ourselves and not focused on God. So Christ allows haters in our lives to keep us focused on Him. The pain keeps you in prayer. Take your focus off of that person or those people and focus on God’s provision. God has lessons for you to learn. Seek Him and forget about your haters. Be confident in God’s love. You will prevail!

You Will Prevail-Monday Motivation

If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. John 15:19 esv

God is greater than your haters! If you are a positive person, then you will have some haters. If you are a godly person, then you will have even more. Anytime God’s people let their lights shine opposition will arise. The enemy doesn't like to see us joyful and living successful spiritual lives. So he works through bitter and angry people to try and break us down. With God on our side the enemy can not succeed.

If you are a true follower of Christ then expect Him to do amazing things in your life. If Christ does amazing things in your life, then expect people to be envious. The world hated Jesus and the world will hate us. And that’s just fine because God is on our side. When you are doing something right expect a few haters. But also expect The Lord to be on your side! You will prevail in Christ.

I Will Give You Rest-Friday Freedom

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 esv

Jesus promises you rest. If you are in Christ, then experience all that He has for you. God desires for you to give your burdens over to Him. He is waiting for you to let Him walk alongside you in life. Oh how He yearns to know you more. True Christians don't have to worry about anything. Christ is able and He will give you rest.

"What a Friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer"

I Will Give You Rest-Thursday Thought

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 esv

Why are you missing out on rest? Life has a way of weighing us down. Problems arise and this becomes all we think about. We can’t focus on anything else because we worry. We’re trying to handle everything on our own. We toss and turn at night, losing sleep and losing rest. We willfully forfeit the very thing Christ has promised us; rest.

Are you in Christ? Then enjoy His rest! Jesus has promised real and true rest for all those that are His. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. There are still problems and burdens in following Jesus, but He has promised to stay with you through every issue in life! He is your friend. He is your counselor. He is your comforter. Are you enjoying God’s rest?

I Will Give You Rest-Wednesday Word

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 esv

Jesus says that His yoke is easy. Simply stated, a yoke is a device that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to a plow. Together they are able to pull the plow more effectively. Jesus says His yoke is light. In the journey of life what are you yoked to? Are you yoked the world, fleshly desires, or just trying to do everything your own way? If two animals are yoked together and they do not agree on where to go there will pain and tension. One will drag the other.

Don’t let life’s pressures drag you down. Jesus promises rest for those that are His. His yoke is not one of pain and agony. Christ’s yoke is one of comfort and peace. Stop trying follow desires that do not agree with God. Stop trying to be with people who drag you along. Stop to move away from where God wants you to go. Take on Jesus' yoke and have peace!

I Will Give You Rest-Tuesday Truth

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 esv

True rest can only be found in Jesus Christ. While trying to do anything and everything we run ourselves down. We become burned out and we try whatever we can to fix it. Paying for massages, taking trips, and even sleeping pills. All this just to get some good rest. While these may help physically, often times the rest we need is at a deeper level.

Jesus promises rest for your weary soul. He provides the one type of rest that the world can not give. The most comfortable bed in the most serene vacation spot will not provide rest for your emotions and your spirit. Anybody who has ever had a sleepless night knows what I mean. Bodily rest is needed, but spiritual tranquility is needed much more. Get that rest from Jesus

I Will Give You Rest-Monday Motivation

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 esv

Jesus promises rest for all those who come to Him. Life has a way of making us tired. We commit to so many things. We’re always on the go. The demands never go away. We finish one thing and two more come up. Sometimes life can weigh down on us in such a way that we feel drained and exhausted. But Jesus promises rest for those that are His.

When you feel like you can’t go on remember that you can rest in the Lord. We were not made to carry all of life’s burdens. We were made to give them over to Christ. You don’t have to handle everything alone. You don’t have to always be tired and run down. You don’t have to feel helpless. Jesus will walk this road of life with you. And if you open up to Him, then He will give you rest!

Confidence-Friday Freedom

So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6 esv

Do you have confidence in Jesus? If so, then there is no need to worry. When you think about your failures, remember how God is always successful.  Meditate on how Christ is always sufficient when you think you don’t have enough. Think about how the Lord is concerned about you and wants you to succeed in life. You don’t have to be confident in your abilities and skills. Be confident in Christ. God is able to do whatever He has called you to do. Do you believe that?

Whatever you lack God has. You can be confident in Jesus Christ. He is able to do the task He has called you to do. Jesus wants to work in you. When you feel low about yourself think about Christ. Think about how Jesus loves you enough to die for you. Think about how Christ always forgives you no matter what. Think about how the God you serve is all sufficient and His Spirit lives in you. God is more than able and willing to show out in your life. Hold your head up high. You are a child of the King!

Confidence-Thursday Thought

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 esv

Do you trust God? Questions like these may seem unnecessary, but it needs to be asked. Trust means to put confidence in. Life has a way of overwhelming us often if we let it. All of our responsibilities, concerns, obligations, bills, and more flood our minds. The normal thing to do is just is sit and think about how we can’t accomplish it all. But, the beautiful thing is, we don’t have to.

God is able to do whatever He wants in your life. Do you believe that?

Confidence-Wednesday Word

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us
Ephesians 3:20 kjv

Exceeding Abundantly. Have you ever just thought about those words? Other versions say 'far more abundantly', 'immeasurably more', 'superabundantly', and 'far over and above'. God’s ability is beyond our imagination. We can barely put it into words. Paul had just given the Ephesian Christians a tall order in what they should accomplish in their lives. But he exhorts them with the truth that God’s superabundant power is working in them.

God is calling you to do something. When you think you’re unable, remember that God is always able. Whatever Christ has placed on your hear He is more than able to perform it in you. If you know Christ for real then the Spirit of God lives inside of you. Take the focus away from yourself and focus on God’s power. God can do it. You can do it through His power!!!

Confidence-Tuesday Truth

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 esv

Where we fall short, God stands strong. If we let our minds wander long enough we dwell on the wrong things. When our minds are not guarded, then bad thoughts can impede us from reaching our goals. We think about what we can not do, what we lack, and where we have failed before. We feel the Lord leading us, but we don’t feel qualified or capable of completing the task. However, God is still able.

Where you are weak, Christ is always strong! You can have confidence in His strength and power. Above is a picture of me speaking at a pastors’ training conference in Africa. Hundreds of men were present. I was so nervous. But before I got up to speak I simply asked God, sincerely, to give what to say. And of course He did! When your mind drifts the wrong way steer it back in the right direction. Think about all that God can do. Meditate on how God always has EXACTLY what you need. Reflect on How Jesus always comes through for you. If it is God’s will you can do it. Be confident in CHRIST!
