Elevation-Wednesday Word

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you
1 Peter 5:6 esv

God elevates us at His appointed time. We try and try to make God get in line with our plans. We work and we work and wonder why He hasn’t moved yet. God has placed in us a desire to be great and do great things. We were made to be great, but under the Lord’s ultimate rule. Christ wants us to follow Him first, then be exalted in Him. That’s His plan so He can get the glory!

Stop trying to raise yourself up. Let Jesus raise you up. Let your desire to do great things yield to your desire to please the Lord Jesus Christ. Even if everything around you doesn't makes sense; just trust the Lord. He has the best intentions for you in His heart. Don’t try to get God to bless you plans. Get in line with His plans. God’s plans are always blessed and they are always the best!

Elevation-Tuesday Truth

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7 esv

In God’s will there is no need for worry. Peter tells us that we can cast all of our cares on the Lord. Let that sink in. Each and every problem. Every last concern. We can give it all to our Savior. When we think of lowering ourselves, even for God’s purposes, we tend to worry. Even when we just know God is leading us in a certain direction, the path can be tough if He is leading us through an uneasy area.

Picture yourself holding your massive load of potential worries and heaving them over to Jesus. Humility is not the path most people take, but it is God’s way. Don’t worry about the money. Don’t worry about what other people think. Just follow the Lord. When you start to worry remember what you have been called to do. Cast all of your cares on the Lord Jesus!

Elevation-Monday Motivation

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you
1 Peter 5:6 esv

Every so often we all need to be reminded of humility. We take a look at our lives and get down on ourselves. We’re not where we want to be in certain areas. We feel like we could be more successful. But as far as God is concerned humility is the path to success. God has to bring us low in order to prepare us for spiritual success.

Jesus was extremely humble. He had every right to exert His authority in every situation, but He didn’t. Sometimes He just let people wrong Him. Sometimes Christ allowed people to think and say things about Him that weren’t true. At times the Lord put others’ needs above His own. You need to learn how to do the same. When you do God will raise you up at the proper time... His time!

He Is Risen!-Friday Freedom

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father
Philippians 2:11

One day every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord. Everyone; the devil and  and he most unsaved person you know. Everyone will not be saved, but there will come a time when all will have to confess with their mouths that Christ is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is Jesus Christ’s seventh step up in exaltation. Hallelujah! Praise Jesus! He is God!

Hallelujah, salvation and glory
Honor and power unto the Lord, our God

For the Lord, our God, is mighty
Yes, the Lord, our God is omnipotent
Yes the Lord our God

He is wonderful!!!

He Is Risen!-Thursday Thought

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth
Philippians 2:10

Do you understand just how high and exalted Jesus is? Along with the heavenly beings all creation will have to bow and recognize Christ as Lord. Everyone on earth (this is the fifth step) and everything under the earth (this is the sixth step). Everyone will not be saved, but everyone will one day have to acknowledge Christ’s Lordship.

Even Christ’s enemies, things under the earth, must recognize Him one day. In this life sometimes we get enemies. We come across those who want to see us fail. But when God is in our lives He exalts us and gives us godly success. Even our enemies must recognize what God has done. The God that we serve is so awesome! Do you treat Him as your Lord now?

He Is Risen!-Wednesday Word

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth
Philippians 2:10

Jesus means Savior. Christ Jesus is the only person who deserves this name. None of you can save yourselves. I cannot save myself. We all needed a Savior Christ Jesus is that Savior. This is Christ’s third step up in exaltation; being recognized as the Savior of the world. When you think of Jesus do you recognize Him as your Savior?

At this name every knee will bow, even the heavenly beings. This is Jesus’ fourth step up in exaltation. How awesome is this? At one point He was despised by many. Being spit on and slapped. He allowed Himself to be beaten and eventually crucified. But now even the angels recognize His glory. Do you?

He Is Risen!-Tuesday Truth

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name
Philippians 2:9

The name of Jesus is above every name! This Christ’s second step up in exaltation. God set His Son’s name above all else. The name of Jesus Christ is meant to be revered and respected. The name of Jesus Christ is meant to be cherished and hallowed. Most of us today use His name in vain or as a curse word. But God has given the name of Jesus Christ the highest honor.

Someone may be dragging your name through the mud right now. Someone may be using your name like it is the worst thing in existence. But if you are a child of God then the Lord is simply setting you up to be exalted. Even those today who don’t truly believe in Jesus know that His name is great. If people are dragging your name through the mud right now, don’t worry. You are associated with the greatness of Christ!

He Is Risen!-Monday Motivation

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name
Philippians 2:9

Christ is risen! Praise God. When Christ rose from the dead He proved that He truly was God Almighty in the flesh. His work on earth was done. Jesus had completed His earthly assignment. And what did the Father do? The Word of God says that the Father highly exalted His Son. This is Christ’s first step up in exaltation. Never forget that when God allows you to be taken down, He will always bring you back up.

God always rewards His children accordingly. Jesus took the greatest plunge and has been given the greatest reward. Your blessing from God is directly related to the amount of pain and turmoil you endure. Understand that every night you cry, all the times you were wronged, every time you just sit and wonder ‘why?’ God is setting you up to be blessed. None of us really know why He chooses to work that way, but that’s just the way it is. God always turns your tragedy into triumph!

No Greater Love-Friday Freedom

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

Not only did Jesus allow Himself to be murdered (wow, as if that isn’t enough to wrap our minds around), He allowed Himself to be killed on the Cross! This was Jesus’ seventh and final step all the way down from Heaven. In His time on earth the Cross was the most despicable and vile form of execution. If you’re reading this at work take some time to mediate on this alone later.

Stressed to the point of sweating blood. Slapped and spit on the night before. The whip used had several leather straps with metal balls at the end. One physician says by the end of the flogging His back and legs were probably nothing more than an unrecognizable mass of torn bleeding tissue. Our Lord tried to carry His own cross, but the intense weight was too much as His body weakened from losing copious amounts of blood. An iron nail was driven firmly through each wrist and one through both feet. For hours He hung on that cross. For hours He hung there! Could you imagine the pain as those nails tore through His flesh? Pain was shooting through Christ’s body. Jesus’ blood came streaming down! His muscles gave out. Jesus suffocated. Our Lord cried, “It is finished” and surely He died on that cross.

When you read the words He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross think about what that really means! Jesus did that just for you!

Calvary, Calvary
Calvary, Calvary
Calvary, Calvary
Surely he died on Calvary.
He hung His head and died,
He hung His head and died,
He hung His head and died for me.

One day when I was lost
He died upon that cross,

He hung His head and died for me.

No Greater Love-Thursday Thought

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

Can we comprehend just how low Christ took Himself for us? This week we have been examining how much Jesus did for us. With each step He lowers Himself in an effort to redeem mankind. And now the Lord Almighty, Jesus, allows Himself to be killed. This is Jesus’ sixth step down from heaven. Christ left Heaven’s glory to come to this filthy world and be killed. This type of love and humility is far above human comprehension.

Death is the penalty of sin. Jesus is God and we know that He is absolutely holy and therefore without sin. What kind of love is this? It is the type that only God can give. Who else would die for the sins of the entire world? He took the penalty of your sins so you don’t have to. Do you understand just how incredible His stepping down is?

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:7-8 NKJV

After becoming a servant; Jesus made Himself in the likeness of men. He gave up His splendor and took on the appearance of a human being. This was His fourth step down. This may not seem like a big deal until you really think about it. Think about how much greater a human is than an ant. If you were reduced to the greatness of an ant how would you feel? Compared to us ants are weak, insignificant, and virtually meaningless. How much greater the plunge from Almighty God in heaven down to this earth!

Next, Jesus humbled Himself. This humbling is Jesus’ fifth step down from heaven. This may not seem like much unless you actually think about Who we are talking about. As humans we are required to humble ourselves. Sometimes to our parents, supervisors, and when we have made mistakes. But this is The Lord Himself we are talking about now! He needs to humble Himself to no one. Christ Jesus is the all-powerful self-existent God. Yet He did it anyway. Why? Because He loves you and me that much. Christ exercised humility and took on a role that was far beneath Him to come and save your soul. This is the true path to greatness.

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the

form of a bondservant, and coming in the

likeness of men.
Philippians 2:7

Jesus emptied himself to come to the world and save you. This was His second step down from heaven. What did He empty Himself of? Many people claim that Christ emptied Himself of His deity, but this is not true. God could never stop being God. No, He emptied Himself of His glory. He remained God, but gave up His splendor.

Jesus also became a servant. This was His third step down from heaven. Not only did the Lord lay down His splendor, but He also became a servant. Wow. How many of us get offended at the thought of serving other people? Jesus, knowing all the wrong every single person would do, still came down to be a servant; as a carpenter, working miracles, and eventually giving His life for the sins of the world. Christ knew that none of these acts of humility would compromise His position as God. When you humble yourself to serve others, that does not make you a lesser person. In Christ it makes you a greater person.

No Greater Love-Monday Motivation

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ

Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not

consider it robbery to be equal with God

Philippians 2:5-6

Jesus Christ took seven steps of humiliation down from heaven just to save your soul! Christ’s love for you is far above human understanding. The first step Jesus took down was leaving heaven’s glory. As the ever-existing Word; Jesus has always been. He was in heaven with the Father as God. Christ left that just for you.

Jesus’ love for you is displayed through His selflessness. If you had the opportunity be in heaven with God would you give that up just to go save somebody else? Jesus cares about you that much. He left peace and perfection for sinfulness and pain. He came down to lift you up. Christ did the work that we could not do for ourselves. Christ left heaven in all of its splendor just for you. He loves you!

Amazing-Friday Freedom

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”
Ephesians 2:4-5

God’s grace is truly amazing. We once were lost in spiritual darkness. Just like someone stumbling around a pitch black room, we were just stumbling around in life. Not knowing where to go or what to do; just lost. But God gave us spiritual sight. You were dead, but God has given you new life! You were guilty, but God has justified you through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ! I don’t know about you, but just thinking about God’s amazing grace is uplifting, encouraging, and just gives me the strength to run on. Now we can truly sing with John Newton:
“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
Than when we've first begun.”

Amazing-Thursday Thought

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Ephesians 2:4-5

Do you ever just think about how great God’s grace is? We sing Amazing Grace all the time, but do we really understand just how amazing it is? John Newton, the author of Amazing Grace, understood all too well. A captain who was out to sea during a vehemently wild storm, Newton just knew his life was almost over. But when he cried, "Lord, save us!" God did just that. Newton had experienced God’s amazing grace.

Do you understand just how awesome the grace of God is? You were lost in a storm. You used to be dead (totally unresponsive) to God. Because you were dead, there was nothing you could do to reach Him. You were stuck in alienation from the Lord, dead in your sins, and surely headed to drown to spiritual death in them. BUT GOD, through His amazing unmerited favor chose to make eternal life a possibility for you. If you have been born again, then He has brought you from spiritual death (being separated from Him forever) to everlasting life. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW IMMEASURABLY AWESOME THAT IS?

Amazing-Wednesday Word

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10

God lavished His grace on us through the work of Jesus Christ. When we were dead in our sins He chose to create the opportunity for us to have new life. There was nothing we could do to earn salvation ourselves, but God loved us anyway. Jesus didn’t just come to save us and go on about His business though. Before salvation we couldn’t work to get to God. Now we are forever indebted to Him. We should want to work to please Him.

If you have been born again, then you are God’s workmanship. You are God’s handiwork. The Lord has done so much to restore a relationship with you. There are many more things He wants to do. God wants to fulfill His glorious plans through you! You should want that for your life. Salvation is only the beginning of the good work that Christ wants to complete in you. If you appreciate God’s grace, then live like it.

Amazing-Tuesday Truth

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

God’s grace is simply the result of His own goodness; not anything we have done. No one can brag about what they have done do receive their salvation. Why? Because no one can do anything to earn salvation. It is the gift of God to each of us. Never get caught up in the idea that a person can work to be saved. It is simply impossible.

When you were totally undeserving God extended His amazing grace to you through Christ. When you couldn’t help yourself the Lord took care of the situation. He provided the necessary atonement for salvation. God is always good to you no matter. You never have to work for God’s love. Jesus loves you unconditionally. Never forget that!

Amazing-Monday Motivation

For by grace you have been saved through

faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of

Ephesians 2:8

God has saved you through His amazing grace! If you have accepted Christ as Savior, then this is true for you. Grace is God’s unmerited favor. When you didn’t deserve the favor of God He still bestowed it unto you. There was nothing you could do to earn it. Yet Jesus still gave His very life just for you.

If you have been born again, then you have a relationship with the Lord. God wanted to give you new life that passionately. He has heaped His favor on your soul. The grace of God is all that you need. If are a true Christian then you have God’s favor upon your life. Not just in salvation, but for your entire life. Enjoy your life. Enjoy God’s grace!

He's Worthy-Friday Freedom

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
          Psalm 103:1 NKJV

When you’re up; bless the Lord. When you’re down, bless the Lord. When you feel like it; give God the glory. When don’t feel like it; give Him the praise. No matter what you can see; Christ is always great and worthy to be praised. Change your outlook on life. Disrupt the enemy’s attack on your attitude. Change the spiritual atmosphere of those in your sphere of influence. Look up to Jesus and bless Him with ALL that is within you. He's Worthy!!!

Magnify the Lord with me
Whom the Son He has redeemed
Clap your hands, rejoice and sing
You are Lord of everything
For the Lord our God is great
Perfect Lord in all your ways
God of mercy Lord of grace
Holy one ancient of days
He has done great things for me so I will
Bless the Lord!!!

He's Worthy-ThursdayThought

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
            Psalm 34:4

What happens when we send praises up to the Lord? David said he would bless God at all times. David vowed that God’s praises would always be in His mouth. This led him to understand that when he sought the Lord, he was heard. Praising God reminded David that when he sought God he was delivered from all his fears. When need to understand that whenever we seek God only good things can be the result.

So how often are the praises of Jesus in your mouth? It is easy to get cause up in your problems when your focus is off. However, when you spend your time praising the Lord for all He has done, then you will be more inclined to seek Him at all times. The more you seek Him, the more spiritual success you will have in life. Do you ever just spend time just praising Christ for who He is?

He's Worthy-Wednesday Word

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
-Psalm 34: 1-3

David had a roller coaster of a spiritual life. But he vowed to bless God at all times. When he was riding high; he would send praises up to the Lord. When he was lower than low; David would still recognize God for His excellent greatness. Why? Because through it all David understood that God is great and always worthy to be praised! David probably also knew that praising God does something for the soul.

When you bless the Lord your outlook on life changes. Praising God helps you remember that God loves you, what He has done for you, and all that you can do through Him. At least it should. When you send praises up to Christ your spirit is ignited by just focusing on who God is. If you are a child of God praises should always be coming from your lips. You should be exhorting others to do the same. Why? Because when God is exalted everything else just seems to be OK…

He's Worthy-Tuesday Truth

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
          -Psalm 103:2

Remembering all the benefits of salvation will yield heartfelt praise. After David said he would bless God will his entire being, David goes on to say do not forget all God’s benefits. What are some of the benefits of being in Christ? In Christ we are free from the penalty of sin, we have new life through Christ, and access to every spiritual blessing. These are just a few.

When you think about all you have access to in the Lord; praise should be the natural outpouring of your heart.  No matter what else is going on. No matter where you are. Remembering God’s abundant goodness towards you should yield praise! What are some of the benefits you have received from God? If you are honest with yourself there are too many to keep track of. Praising Jesus may not change the circumstance, but praise will change your outlook. So remember all the benefits of being in Christ and bless the Lord with all that is within you!
