He's Worthy!-Monday Motivation

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Psalm 103:1 NKJV

We all have something to praise God for! No matter what the situation may be; this is always true. David said he would bless the Lord with his total being. David definitely had some ups and downs, but he would not let that stop him from giving God the praise. Why? Because David knew who God truly was. When we think about God and all He has done for us we should feel compelled to bless his name with all that is within us.

You have something to praise God for! He is worthy so give Him the praise. You were made to praise God. There is no better feeling than doing what you were created to do. Take a moment to stop thinking about all the negative things and just bless the name of the Lord. Tell Jesus how much you love Him. Thank Him for all He has done for you. Because when the praises go up, the blessings come down!

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
Psalm 37:24 (NKJV)

God calls us to commitment, but He knows we are not perfect. God is not as concerned about your outside actions as He is with the condition of your heart. When you are committed to the Lord He knows your heart is in the right place; His will. Even when you slip God will uphold you because He knows that you are overall committed to Him. Commit to the Lord and be reassured by the fact that He loves no matter what you do!

“For he's my rooftop in the rage of the storm.
He's my protector, there'll never be no harm.He is the bread that sits on my table,My God can do it, he's truly able.
I will serve him
I will serve him
I will serve him
I will serve him

Try my Jesus, try him out,He's worthy to be served."

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him,  And He shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37: 5 (NKJV)

What do you commit your life to? There is a deep innate sense inside all of us to commit to something. Some of us choose to be die-hard fans of our favorite teams. Others would rather glorify their favorite entertainer or public figure. Still some choose to tend to their own needs and elevate themselves. David says when you commit to the Lord He will take of you. What do these other commitments do for you?

Are you committed to Christ? Are you committed to Him above all else? That is the type of commitment He requires if you want to be successful in Him. God promises to bring your situation to pass if and only if you fully commit to the Lord. Stop asking God why He is taking so long and look inside your heart. Be honest and ask yourself, “Am I truly committed to Jesus Christ above everything and everyone else?”

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him,  And He shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5 (NKJV)

This is such an awesome statement for several reasons. God makes a promise to us here. When we give our all to Him, then He handles our lives for us. That is such an assuring statement in regards to our relationship with God. But also this is written by King David. David who had defeated Goliath and sinned with Bathsheba. David who had his ups and downs in his walk with God to say the least. David wrote these words from experience as an old man. David knew what he was talking about.

After all the slips, trips, and falls David concluded that if you just commit your way to the Lord, then He will bring it to pass. Many times while we are in the middle of a storm we get worried and fear if God will still come through. We wonder if God will still take care of us and love us. Take it from someone who is looking back on life and speaks with wisdom. God’s love for you is unconditional, but you have to choose to walk into His promises. Jesus will bring it to pass under one condition; just commit to Him!

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”
Psalm 37:5 (NKJV)

Committing to God means committing to success. There are so many other things we run to in feeble attempts to find success. We seek to improve our résumés, join professional organizations, spend less, and save more. We go for whatever seems reasonable and secure. While other commitments may be necessary to personal success; a sincere commitment to the Lord is what we all need first.

When you commit to Jesus Christ you commit to your best life possible. David tells us here of one of God’s many promises to us. He promises to bring our situation to pass. God promises to handle our situation in His sovereign way. This is a simple recipe for success. No matter what you can’t figure out, understand, or calculate keep committing to the Lord. Keep trusting Him. God promises to handle the rest. Let Him do it!

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, He shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5 (NKJV)

Life can be hard. There are so many things that overtake our minds and cloud our thinking. We want so earnestly to live in a way that pleases Christ. We have a heartfelt desire to please Jesus. But everything else seems to get in the way. And when everything we see seems to be going wrong trusting God becomes even more difficult than usual. It’s hard enough as it is!

God can work your situation out much better than you can. Stop trying to manage your own life. Why? Jesus has much better plan. God says if you commit your life to Him and trust Him, then He will handle the rest. Learn to exist the way the Lord intended you to. Rely solely on Him and be abundantly blessed. Is there anything better than that?

Hope Deferred-Friday Freedom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 9:10 esv

Wait on The Lord. God is working out everything in His perfect timing. Ask Him to show you what to do. That’s what He made you for. Even when you mess up God will still help you. All the wisdom and direction you need can be found in Christ. Jesus loves you and will never lead you wrong. Who else can you say that about? Seek God’s will through prayer. Act on it. And you will be successful!

"There are so many things about the will of God
The things we don't understand because they seem so hard
We try to find the way that seems to be just right
But the way that we choose only leads us further from the light
But if we can learn to accept the things we cannot change
And never question God for we'll never know His way

We must accept what God allows
And we must never try to fell Him how
To order our lives
He has a plan in mind

He's the one who made you, created you, saved you
And He knows what's best for you
His will is good
It is acceptable and it's perfect"

Hope Deferred-Thursday Thought

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12 esv

Do you know your future? Of course not. None of us do. As much as we would like to plan out every step of life exactly; we simply can not. Sometimes we get frustrated in trying to make things happen in our own timing. But we weren’t made to live that way. We were made to be totally dependent on God. In spite of what the world says this is how God’s true children are supposed to live.

Who knows your future? God does of course! Because He sits outside of time The Lord knows how life will unfold. Think about your favorite movie; the one you know all the words to. That is how God sees your life, but He knows it even more. Christ has the plan. He knows why things take so long. Trust Him. God knows you can make it. Believe in yourself. Why? God does.

Hope Deferred-Wednesday Word

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12 esv

Disappointment tests our commitment to God. This time last year I was in a work situation that just drained me. I was unsatisfied and unfulfilled. The Lord had told me something else was coming, and I was doing my best to hold on.  Then it happened; I got an interview! “I’m out of here!” I told myself. I put on my best suit and interviewed like I never had before. It went great. Then it happened. I got the call. They picked someone else. I was sullen and confused. I thought this was God’s plan, but He wanted me to wait a little longer. My heart was heavy, but in the midst of my pain I begrudgingly told God, “I trust You Lord.” Nothing was looking up, but I trusted God.

In God’s perfect timing I moved on to a position that was the best fit for me. The other job I thought I wanted would not have worked out for me. God knew that, I didn’t. Why am I telling you all this? Because it shows that God comes through in His perfect timing! God put a desire in my heart. When it didn’t come I was hurt, but everything worked out in God’s timing. God will work out everything for you in His timing. He hasn’t forgotten about you. Remember, a delay is not a denial!

Hope Deferred-Tuesday Truth

And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.
1 Samuel 19:10 esv

David’s life was under attack, literally. While living in King Saul’s palace, he was hated. Saul knew David would take his place someday and he was severely jealous. More than once Saul tried to kill his successor. The spear David dodged was lodged into a wall. Saul was serious. Can you relate? Are you somewhere that people don’t like you? Are you in a place being persecuted? Are you somewhere that you can’t see how it will lead to God’s destiny for you? Good.

David spent years in the wilderness running from Saul, but God was working. David was God’s chosen; intelligent, handsome, and courageous. But he was also arrogant and naive. God needed to work some things out of David before he took the throne. In his years running from Saul he learned patience, humility, and trust in The Lord. God is doing the same in you. The attacks are preparing you for your destiny. Be thankful to God that you are in His boot camp. Ask Jesus what He is trying to work out of you and what He desires to instill in you. Your dreams are on the way, but you must be prepared for them. God is making you ready to fulfill your life’s calling.

Hope Deferred-Monday Motivation

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12 esv

A delay from God is not a denial. When God tells us He is going to do something in our lives we want it at that exact moment. When it doesn’t come at that exact moment, then we get discouraged. But The Lord does not act according to our time schedule. He has His own. Let’s look at David. Samuel the prophet anointed him to be king when David was just a little boy. He didn’t take the throne the next day. He went through ups and downs. He ran for his life. He hid in caves. He cried at times due to his great anxiety. However, at age thirty, God’s promise was fulfilled. David became King.

God has not lied to you. If He said He is going to do something in your life, then He will, but He will do so in His timing. Even on your darkest days trust that God still has you in His hand. Trust that He is working behind the scenes. Trust that He will fulfill His promises to you when His timing is right. The job or position is not where you want to be, but know that God is doing something in that place. Hold your head up high and believe that God would never leave or forsake you. His promise is on the way. If God put a desire in you, then He will bring it to fruition. Remember, a delay is not a denial!

Stay Connected-Friday Freedom

pray without ceasing
1 Thessalonians 5:17 esv

God has great plans for you. It's time for you to hear what He has to say. Prayer is more than telling God what's on your. Prayer is tapping into His mind. Live life how God intended you to. Follow His direction. Get all that He has for you. Depend in the wisdom of the eternal Almighty God and not your own. Give everything over to God in prayer. Stay Connected.

It's me, it's me, it's me Oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer...

Stay Connected-Thursday Thought

pray without ceasing
1 Thessalonians 5:17 esv

When was the last time you really prayed? I don’t mean a flippant grace before dinner or quick, "What’s up Jesus” before walking out the door in the morning, but real prayer. When was the last time you pushed everything and everyone else to the side to hear what God is longing to tell you? The words to one of my favorite songs, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, says, “Oh what peace we often forfeit. Oh what needless pains we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.”

Are you giving up your peace? Why? Let God have control. After giving your life to Christ the relationship needs to be maintained. What happens when we don’t talk to someone for a long time? We don’t know them anymore. Do you know the Lord? God is longing for you to give all of your concerns to Him and listen to His counsel. He didn’t make you to go through life on your own. He wants to walk with you every step of the way. One of the marks of a bad friend is that they only call or come around when they want something. Are you a good friend to Jesus? Stay Connected.

Stay Connected-Wednesday Word

pray without ceasing
1 Thessalonians 5:17 esv

What you see here are the things I never leave home without. This is my iPad, laptop, and cell phone (I took this picture with my other cell phone). I take all this with me when I go out because I need to stay connected to the world. I need to check my emails and make sure I don’t miss any important calls. Many of us do this. We go to great measures to ensure that we’re always accessible to those around us. But, how accessible do we make ourselves to The Lord Jesus Christ?

I do a check every morning, “Do I have my phone? IPad? Cords?” However we all need to ensure that we are connected in the best way possible. We need to communicate with God. We make sure we have all of our devices to be prepared for the day. But, if you leave your home in the morning without hearing from The Lord you are not prepared at all. Make sure you have everything you need each day as you face this world. No one can keep you as informed as God can. So much of the information we look at on our devices is pointless, but what God has to tell you will better you for eternity. Stay connected.

Stay Connected-Tuesday Truth

pray without ceasing
1 Thessalonians 5:17 esv

Prayer is the ultimate wi-fi connection. Just look around. Wherever you work probably has wireless internet. Seemingly every coffee shop does. Even grocery and department stores have wi-fi as well. Why? We feel as if we need to stay connected all the time and everywhere. We always want to know what is going on with those around us and tell them what’s going on with us too. We have to keep our status updated and stay abreast with the rest of the world. As far as technology has advanced, though, phones and tablets still die and the internet goes down. But prayer is always there. We can always be connected to Christ.

Make time to share your status with Jesus. He will comment on every single one, if you will listen. Stop throughout your day and send up an “I Love You Lord” tweet to God. He will “favorite” it. Unlike wireless internet you truly can communicate with Christ anytime and anywhere. It never goes down. In the midst of trying to get retweets and likes, share your life details with someone who can actually help you. God does not want prayer to be an emergency measure for you. He wants prayer to be a lifestyle. Pray without ceasing. Stay connected.

Stay Connected-Monday Motivation

In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:6 esv

Life has a way of weighing us down. We think about all that we have to do. We think about all we need to do. We worry about all that needs to be done. Getting overwhelmed like this makes us forget about God. We love God, at least we say we do, but we make Him a low priority. We read the Bible when we can. We make time to pray when it seems convenient for us. We lay our decisions before God if we feel like it. Then for some strange reason we wonder why life seems so discombobulated. We’re not connected to God.

Our natural tendency in life is to stray away from Jesus when too many things are going on in our lives. But, who do you think can help you keep everything together? God and God alone. From David, Paul, Moses, Jonah, and the like, their lives came together when they submitted everything to the Lord. Everything will work out for you, but you must make Jesus the absolute center of your life. Stay connected with Him like He is your best friend (He should be, anyway). God does not want you to fail. He wants you to succeed. BUT, He wants you to succeed His way! Stay Connected

New-Friday Freedom

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 esv

Christ offers new life to anyone that accepts it. When we accept Christ we become something totally new. We used to slaves to sin, but in Christ we are set free. None of our sin can define us. We identify with Jesus. When God looks at us He sees us through the blood of Christ. You have the potential do great things that will last for eternity. Why? Because when you accept Christ you become God’s child. If you are truly grateful for this spread the news. Go and tell somebody!

“People go through life without a worry
And they’re spending their time on earthly things
They need to know that through their life there is a purpose
To a dying world this message we must bring
Though we tend to feel security in our salvation
We should constantly think about the lost
There are people young and old dying and losing their souls
Without ever taking time to count the cost
So go and tell somebody!
Tell them that Jesus really loves them
He died for their sins!”

New-Thursday Thought

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
~John14:6 ESV

Do you really understand what it means to be born again? This is the basis for our faith as Christians. The new birth of accepting Christ is what we are all about. The fact that we are born again should shape everything about us. Our new birth should permeate to every area of our soul and flood all areas of our lives. God has made us new creatures; dead to sin yet alive through Christ’s power. Take a moment and reflect just on your own personal sins. In light of your own sins; do you ever just think about how awesome that new birth is?

As we strive to please God in everything we must never lose focus. Fellowship is necessary. Singing and praise help us connect with God. But our ultimate mission is to tell people how to get eternal life! And the only way to do that is to be born again. And the only way to be born again is to accept Christ as Savior. Let this always be on your mind. When was the last time you told someone how to be born again? How often does it even cross your mind?

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

New-Wednesday Word

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
John 3:3-5 esv

The rebirth that God’s people experience is completely spiritual. It is just as true and real as our natural births into mankind. Nicodemus was a great teacher of God’s laws and still didn’t understand this principle. Jesus makes His statement very clearly in this situation. The only way to know God and have eternal life is to be born twice. We must be born of water (natural birth) and of the Spirit (rebirth when we accept Christ.)

When Christians forget this essential truth it affects our witness. If we don’t keep in the forefront of our minds that everyone must be born again to enter heaven, we may not be so fervent in our efforts to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have truly accepted Christ you have been reborn. Now it is up to you and all of us to spread this message. There is only one way to know God. You must be born again.

New-TuesdayTruth

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 esv

In Christ you are not your past. New life in Jesus is an awesome thing the think about. We have to try and wrap our minds around this spiritual rebirth. We may look and feel the same naturally, but we have been made new in our spirits. We have joined Christ in dying to sin and thus have risen with Him into this new life. We don’t just feel new. We don’t just act new. We are made new. Children on God, we have been born again.

Old things are passed away. Your past is just that. The past. Nothing you’ve ever done can define or enslave you. The most vile and wretched person can be new in Christ. He has transformed murderers. He has saved adulterers. He will save and transform anybody. Do you want to live this new life? Understand that you are dead to sin. It has no power. Enjoy and rest in the fact that you have been reborn spiritually in Christ.

New-Monday Motivation

So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11 English Standard Version

In Christ we are born again! Unsaved people are dead in their trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1). Paul refers to them as sons (and daughters) of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2). The word ‘dead’ here carries the connotation of being unresponsive. Unsaved people are dead to God (all they can do is sin), but in Christ we have new life! Through Christ’s saving power we have life anew.

In Christ you are dead to sin! If you are truly saved, then sin has no power over you anymore. No more than you give it. You are dead to sin. You don’t have to give in. The habit that has been plaguing you for years. The mindset you want to break so badly. That thing…those things you hope no one ever finds out about you. None of these sins can enslave you! Child of God you are dead to sin and alive in Christ. The same power that conquered sin when Christ rose from the dead lives in you!
