Together-Thursday Thought

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

How is your relationship with the God? It is a blessing to know that we can never lose our salvation. However many of us are not taking full advantage of this awesome relationship. Think about any two family members. No matter what happens between them, they are still family. However, if they have been estranged for years their relationship will be withered and have no meaning.

Are you estranged from Jesus? When was the last time you talked to the Lord? Not just a family dinner prayer, but really talked to Him about your life. When was the last time you had some alone time in the Word? Just you meditating on the Bible and contemplating how it applies to your life. When was the last time you just spent time with God? Let's help each other stay focused on Christ. Hey, we're all in this together!

Together-Wedesday Word


Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

Spending quality time with friends and family is always a good thing. The psalmist says here that unity is good and pleasant. Unity between our fellow man does not always come easy, however. Sometimes we have to look past certain things and make real sacrifices in order to achieve that togetherness with our friends and family.

We must be dedicated to reaching out and doing our part to keep right relationships with other people. We must open our mouths and say what is on our minds. Think about how many relationships have been broken simply because someone didn’t express their feelings and a misunderstanding arose. We also need to confess and admit when we have done someone wrong. Hey, we're all in this together!

God created us to depend in Him. Just like a small child we are always dependent on God's love and care. In life we outgrow the need to be cared for by parents or guardians, but we must never stop leaning on Christ. One of the many great things about God being our Father is that He has many children. In Christ we have an abundance of siblings.

God made us to depend on each other! We're not made to endure life alone. Jesus wants to experience His love through our Christian brothers and sisters. Don't be afraid to open up to a trusted friend. Make time to check on those you love. Experience friendships and Christian fellowship the way God intended you to. You don't have to go through hardships alone! Hey, we're all in this together!

Together-Monday Motivation

God has called us to live the Christian life in fellowship with other believers. The enemy is good at leading us towards being alone and feeling alone. Problems come and we push people away.  We begin to believe that we don't need any help with our problems. We don't want anyone in our business. We know that we can handle  anything and everything all by ourselves. So we try and live life alone, but that never works. We even push God away sometimes whether we are trying to or not.

Paul's prayer through the influence of the Holy Spirit is that Christians learn to live life together. God wants us to live in community together! Not just at church, but to know the details of each other's lives. Paul prayed that we would be rooted and grounded in God's unfailing love. This love is our foundation in life and through God's strength we should help each other understand the love of Christ more and more. Christ desires to love us through each other. He designed us to share life's peaks and valleys together. Reach out to a brother or sister in Christ today. Allow someone to reach out and encourage you as well. Hey, we're all in this together!

Be Content-Thursday Thought

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Why do you want more from God? Contentment is such a hard concept for us to grasp. We want to the point that we are not satisfied with our current state. But why? We crave things so much we begin to wonder if God still hears our prayers. But why do we want more? Is it for ourselves or for a godly purpose?

Many of us need to stop questioning God and examine the intentions of our own hearts. Maybe Christ would give you more money if you planned on using it for heavenly purposes. Maybe He would give you a new job if you would honor Him on the one you have now. Maybe God would elevate you if you elevated Him in your heart! Godliness and contentment are all you need. When you get that the rest will fall into place. Why would The Lord give you more of anything just to squander it?

Be Content-Wednesday Word

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 
1 Timothy 6:7-8 (NKJV)




There is certainly nothing wrong with having material things. Virtually everyone likes having nice stuff. The problem arises when we become engrossed in accumulating things. There is no reward in just getting more things simply for the purpose of having them around. I heard a preacher say once, “at the end of this life the richest person who ever lived and the poorest person who ever lived have the exact same amount of material wealth; nothing.”

The Bible clearly tells us that we can not take anything with us from this life into the next. All we need from God is essentially food and shelter. God always gives us what we need. Be content with what Christ has given you and where He has you. None of your possessions will go with you, but there can be many great eternal treasures waiting when you get there. Strive to move up, walk in godliness and be content.

A life of godliness will lead to a life of contentment. Being content with what we have and where we are in life is not easy. Society and our natural tendencies drive us to never be satisfied. Our sinful nature is one of greed. We want, we want, and we want some more. No person can truly be content through their own strength. This can only come from the power of the Holy Spirit.

When you live outside of God’s will; you will never be content. You won’t be experiencing the best for your life. You won’t be where Christ wants you to be. But, when you are walking where the Lord wants you to be contentment is inevitable. God will satisfy you. You will understand that He is working your entire life out in His own perfect timing. A life of godliness will lead to contentment which will lead to a great gain for your spiritual growth. Trust Jesus.

Not just a little bit, but here Paul says these two attributes are great gain. We try and try to get more. We want a higher position or a better title. We want more things so people can look at us and be amazed. We want, we want, and we want some more. Somewhere in us there is a desire to want more; which is not bad in itself. However, that desire becomes distorted when we believe that more of this and that will validate or make us of some worth.

But Christ wants to remind us that godliness and contentment are all we really need. Seek to know the Lord more than you do now. Keep striving for want you want, but be pleased with what God has given you now. A real relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is all that you need. Rest in that fact and be content. Plus your blessing is on the way!

Mike Brown: What Can You Do?



St. Louis and the world have been shaken by the events surrounding the tragic death of Michael Brown Jr. on Saturday August 9th, 2014. Angst and confusion led to looting, rioting and horrific war-like interactions between police and civilians. Many protests have arisen around the country. Many social media campaigns and websites have sprung up as well. While all this is going on the question looms in the minds of numerous people, ‘What can I do to help?” We look at this world and sometimes it seems as if there is no hope. The Michael Brown case is just one of many tragic incidents that takes place around the world every day. In a world so shaken by tragedy and disaster what is the answer? There is only one answer to this and all the world’s problems. The answer is salvation through Jesus Christ. A lost world needs to know that Jesus died for their sins and rose so they can experience God for real.

As we scream, “Justice For Mike Brown” we need to proclaim Christ too.  As Christians we feel that calling to help others even more than those around us. The issues we see every day are caused by a deeper issue of needing to know Christ truly in their hearts. Those of us who are truly saved need to let our lights shine in this dark world. What people need to see from us is love. The world needs us to pray. We need to pray for peace around the world. We need to demonstrate Christ in our character and in the way we treat other people. We need to spread the gospel and help people realize there is hope. Sadly, Michael Brown’s family may never get the justice they are seeking in this life. As Christians we need to help people understand that in Christ there is hope for the next life. Christ offers the world the opportunity to know God eternally and to have peace in any crisis. In this and in any troublesome situation Christians must pray for peace and justice, but also pray that these crises will lead those affected to a relationship with Jesus.

Restoration-Thursday Thought

What do you commit your life to? There is a deep innate sense inside all of us to commit to something. Some of us choose to be die-hard fans of our favorite teams. Others would rather glorify their favorite entertainer or public figure. Still some choose to tend to their own needs and elevate themselves. David says when you commit to the Lord He will take of you. What do these other commitments do for you?

Are you committed to Christ? In times like these are you committed to Him above all else? That is the type of commitment He requires if you want to be successful in Him. God promises to bring your situation to pass if and only if you fully commit to the Lord. Stop asking God why He is taking so long and look inside your heart. Be honest and ask yourself, “Am I truly committed to Jesus Christ above everything and everyone else?”

Restoration-Wednesday Word

As Christians we have hope in this life because of the life that is to come! Some days bad news just seems to keep piling up. Before we can get over on thing something else has already come up. As we look at the news murder, disease, and violence run rampant all across the world. Some times this world seems hopeless. Is there any hope for this world. In Christ there is always hope for a brighter future and a better tomorrow.

For those of us who truly know Christ we are awaiting paradise. We are waiting for that day when perils and trials are a thing of the past. One day we will live in the very presence of God for all eternity. Let that hope encourage you today. Share the message of salvation through Christ alone with all of those who are lost in this fallen world. PEOPLE ARE HURTING AND ACTING OUT BECAUSE THEY NEED TO KNOW CHRIST! It is up to you and me to show them who He is. We have to be lights in this dark world. Never forget that in Christ there is always hope.

Restoration-Tuesday Truth

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

Regardless of what we see in this world God is still in control! Unless you live under a rock you are fully aware of the events surrounding Michael Brown. The tragedy of a young man losing his life led to violence, rioting, and destruction. This seems to be just the latest of the chaos that we see in our world every single day. In times like these keeping the faith can be quite difficult. But we have to remember, even though it may look like God is not in control, He still is!

Too often situations like this spiral out of control because people let anger get the best of them and they make irrational decisions. We see no other option so we make up our own. People of God in these times we need to pray like never before. We are called to be light in this dark and fallen world. The unsaved don't know any better, but we do! God told us that there would be difficulty. He also said that He would never leave or forsake us and that whatever we ask in the name of Jesus He would do. Prayer and persistence is the key in this and any situation. Continue to trust Jesus Christ who can restore and bring good out of any situation!

Restoration-Monday Motivation

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

God is able to restore the brokenness or loss in your life! Sometimes we just have those valley experiences in life. We feel LOW. We feel as if no one or nothing can help us. A big trick of the enemy is to make us feel as if we are all alone in our pain. But if we are truly saved God is always with us and He has a purpose in our pain. On top of that The Lord can restore us from whatever hurt and agony we are going through.

Jesus will take care of you. Just trust Him. He is more than able to handle your problems and restore your soul. He will walk with you in the midst of your brokenness and bring back purpose, meaning, and hope to your soul. Take it from Joseph in the pit. Look to David in the midst of his grave sin. A blinded Paul saw how Christ worked in this way as well. From grief, to separation, to bankruptcy, and more, God can restore you. Trust Him and keep pressing!

Do you trust God above all else? Confidence itself is not always a good thing. Sometimes we think we should let God handle the big things and we take care of what we can. WRONG. The only way to reach true success is to put all your confidence in the Lord. You must trust Him for absolutely everything.


Is all your confidence in the Almighty God?  He alone has to be the only One you run to for the “big stuff” and the “small stuff.” Really though, what can be considered big to God? Trust that you can do all things through Him like Paul said. Put God first and let everything else in life fade into the background.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” 
Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) 

God wants the total person, including our time. Am I saying that we should spend every waking moment praying and in church? No. However, we should make time to spend with God every day by reading His word, meditating on it, and praying to Him. We should pray all throughout the day. The Bible tells us to never stop praying 
(1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Even with other activities you should make sure that your time is going towards things that God approves of. Being idle, bored, having nothing to do gives way for the devil to attack your mind which leads to sin. Make sure your time is spent engaged in productive activities that please God. More importantly, make sure you spend time with God especially early in the morning and before going to sleep.

God loves you even though you do not deserve it! While we were still sinners. When nothing about you was worth Jesus’ love, the Lord gave it anyway. This is the kind of love that only God can give. Sometimes we tend to doubt God. We look around at the situations in our lives and wonder if we can really trust Him. Of course we can. Just look at the way Christ loves us.

God’s love will never fail you. He has already proved that He loved you even when you were unlovable. Christ chose to come and help you just because of His love. He wants to walk by your side throughout this life. He wants to help you endure all the many troubles that may come your way. He wants you to know that you can trust and confide in Him. Jesus loves you. Walk with the Lord.

Just to Know Him-Monday Motivation

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV


God rewards those who seek Him diligently. Seeking God will be displayed not only in what others see you do, but in the way you live when no one else is around. God calls His people to live to a much higher standard than those around us. We are called to live in this world, but not to embrace its ways. This is how we worship God (with our entire lives) and how we display Christ to the world.

 It is not an easy task to live right in the midst of so much wrong. But this is our assignment in this world. You may have to walk away from certain people. You may not be able to go where everyone else goes. You may not feel like you fit in, where everyone seems to be so comfortable, but neither did Jesus. Worship God with your whole heart and just give your life to Him. He will reward you abundantly in this life and forever in the next one!
