The Real You-Friday Freedom

And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.
Matthew 14:32-33

The sixth chapter of Ephesians explains the spiritual armor we need for spiritual battle. In this chapter faith is represented as the shield. As a child, I often wondered why this was. Over the years I realized why faith is the shield. If we have weak faith, or a small shield, we lack the ability to trust God and are more susceptible to lies and attacks from the enemy. However, if we have strong faith, or a large shield, then we better understand our position in Christ and we are more able to go through situations/areas that may be dangerous. This is because with a large shield of faith we don’t let outside circumstances affect what we know about the Lord. We know that Jesus is omnipotent in the boat, out on the water, and absolutely everywhere. Come out of your comfort zone!!!

“I’m coming out of my comfort zone
Some of the places in my life that’s comfortable
God is challenging me
To trust and believe
For to go where I’ve not gone
I must do what I’ve not done!”

The Real You-Thursday Thought

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

Psalm 139:16

Do you ever just think about how well the Lord knows you? He knows you to an extent that is greater that beyond comprehension. Jesus knows exactly how many hairs are on your head (Luke 12:7).  Every single detail about us and about our lives; the Lord already knows about it. He has always known. As we continue to mature and progress through life we learn more about ourselves. But nothing we learn surprises God.

Do you take advantage of knowing the God who knows you so well? Don’t run to people who claim to tell you your future; God knows. Don’t waste time asking yourself and stressing about the plans and path for your life. God knows. You don’t have to try and work any situation out in your life alone because God already knows exactly how your life will play out. He always knew and He wants you to walk with Him. God actually knows every single step you will take. Trust Him.

The Real You-Wednesday Word

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

Psalm 139:13-14

Fearfully and wonderfully made. That is how God describes forming you. Do you think of yourself as one of God’s precious creations? If not, then you definitely should. Sometimes life weighs us down to the point where we may even get down on ourselves. It may just be a low point, comparing ourselves to others, or just a feeling of inadequacy. However God says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

There is not another you in this world. There never has been and there never will be. God took the time to knit you together in the womb with great care, detail, and concern. You are one of God’s precious creations. There is a destiny and a specific plan, in Christ, that the Lord has laid out just for you. Even if you do not think so, God knows you are a capable, intelligent, and amazing person. How?  Because He made you that way.

The Real You-Tuesday Truth

The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.
Proverbs 11:3

A simple concept with deep implications. Someone may read a verse such as this and think that it is common sense. But the way many people are living, even many Christians, tells us that it is not. Think about how much smoother most people’s lives would be if they just lived by this principle. When we live right and according to God’s standards, He leads us and takes care of us. When we veer off on our own paths; we are bound for destruction.

There is only one way to have clear direction in life. And that is following the Lord Jesus Christ. Living a life a life that is pleasing to Lord will always yield good things for you. Because God is pleased with your life He will continue to lead you. Why? Because you want to go where Christ wants you to go. Have you ever been in an unfamiliar room and the lights were off? Most likely you stumbled over something. Don’t stumble through life. Walk in the Spirit. Live righteously and enjoy the direction of God Almighty.

Seek Him-Friday Freedom

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the the Lord, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:7

Becoming a Christian doesn’t make life easy, but Jesus helps us deal with the issues. How? Simply because He cares about you and me. Not only does He already know what the issues are; He cares about how you feel and wants to bring you through. Nobody, NOBODY…. I MEAN NO BODY can bring you through a situation like Jesus Christ can. He is a Counselor. He is a Brother. He is a Great High Priest. He is a true Friend and so much more. He loves us and His love is incredible beyond description. Nobody can do us like the Lord, because nobody loves us like the Lord.

“Can't nobody do me like Jesus.
Can't nobody do me like the Lord.
Can't nobody do me like Jesus.
He's my friend.

He picked me up and turned me around…”

Seek Him-Thursday Thought

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:6

Where does your confidence lie? Confidence itself is not always a good thing. Sometimes we think we should let God handle the big things and we take care of what we can. WRONG. The only way to reach true success is to put all your confidence in the Lord. You must trust Him for absolutely everything.

Is all your confidence in the Almighty God?  He alone has to be the only One you run to for the “big stuff” and the “small stuff.” Really though, what can be considered big to God? Trust that you can do all things through Him like Paul said. Put God first and let everything else in life fade into the background.

Seek Him-Wednesday Word

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

Don’t think too hard; these are obviously rhetorical questions. David starts out this well-known Psalm proclaiming who God is; his light, salvation, and strength. The apparent answers to His questions are no one at all. When the Almighty God is your source of power there is no reason to fear or be afraid. In fact, when God is your source of power your attitude in life should be just the contrary.

David was confident in the Lord’s protection and provision and rightfully so. If the Lord is center of your life; you have no choice but to be walking in complete confidence. He is the light that guides you in darkness. He provides salvation that has made you brand new. He alone is the strength of your life. Remember that there is nothing you can do on your own, but God’s sovereignty is all that you need. Move forward in confidence remembering there is nothing to fear!

Seek Him-Tuesday Truth

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:6

Sometimes we have to trust God, even when we don’t feel like it. I heard a preacher tell this story about his son and eating vegetables. At dinner he told his son to eat his spinach, but the boy ate everything on his plate except that. When the father saw this he asked his son why he did not eat his vegetables. The son said, “I don’t feel like it.” The father said, “I told you to eat your spinach, I didn’t say you had to feel like doing it. Son, you can still do it even if you don’t feel like it.”

Don’t avoid your “spiritual vegetables.” God calls us to trust Him totally, to study His Word, to love our enemies, to do what is right when everyone else is wrong, and to represent Christ in this sinful world. These are the things we must do no matter how we feel. Why? Because they will make us stronger. Ask God today for strength to move past your feelings and do what He is calling you to do!

Seek Him-Monday Motivation

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

When God is the Head of your life, your situation must end victoriously! Everyday so many other people and things fight for our attention. And often times, probably more than we would like to admit, we give in. It may be deliberate or unintentional, but either way we end up chasing what we think we want instead of what God knows that we need. This is a sure recipe for confusion, however a life focused on God’s plans and goals will yield just the opposite.

Jesus basically tells us that if we put Him first, He will handle everything else. And even though we know what He said is true sometimes our feelings make us want to act otherwise. God has great plans for your life; greater than you or I could imagine. If you want to fulfill those plans you have to lay yours down and seek His totally. It may not always feel right, but trusting God is always the right thing to do.

Be BOLD-Thursday Thought

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 esv

Do you trust God? Questions like these may seem unnecessary, but it needs to be asked. Trust means to put confidence in. Life has a way of overwhelming us often if we let it. All of our responsibilities, concerns, obligations, bills, and more flood our minds. The normal thing to do is just is sit and think about how we can’t accomplish it all. But, the beautiful thing is, we don’t have to.

Do you have confidence in Jesus? If so, then there is no need to worry. When you think about your failures, remember how God is always successful.  Meditate on how Christ is always sufficient when you think you don’t have enough. Think about how the Lord is concerned about you and wants you to succeed in life. You don’t have to be confident in your abilities and skills. Be confident in Christ. God is able to do whatever He wants in your life. Do you believe that?

Be BOLD-Wednesday Word

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us
Ephesians 3:20

Exceeding Abundantly. Have you ever just thought about those words? Other versions say 'far more abundantly', 'immeasurably more', 'superabundantly', and 'far over and above'. God’s ability is beyond our imagination. We can barely put it into words. Paul had just given the Ephesian Christians a tall order in what they should accomplish in their lives. But he exhorts them with the truth that God’s superabundant power is working in them.

God is calling you to do something. When you think you’re unable, remember that God is always able. Whatever Christ has placed on your hear He is more than able to perform it in you. If you know Christ for real then the Spirit of God lives inside of you. Take the focus away from yourself and focus on God’s power. God can do it. You can do it through His power!!!

Be BOLD-Tuesday Truth

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 esv

Where we fall short, God stands strong. If we let our minds wander long enough we dwell on the wrong things. When our minds are not guarded, then bad thoughts can impede us from reaching our goals. We think about what we can not do, what we lack, and where we have failed before. We feel the Lord leading us, but we don’t feel qualified or capable of completing the task. However, God is still able.

Where you are weak, Christ is always strong! You can have confidence in His strength and power. Above is a picture of me speaking at a pastors’ training conference in Africa. Hundreds of men were present. I was so nervous. But before I got up to speak I simply asked God, sincerely, to give what to say. And of course He did! When your mind drifts the wrong way steer it back in the right direction. Think about all that God can do. Meditate on how God always has EXACTLY what you need. Reflect on How Jesus always comes through for you. If it is God’s will you can do it. Be confident in CHRIST!

Be BOLD-Monday Motivation

But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27 esv

As a child of God you can have complete confidence in Christ! Many people never get as far in life as they could because they lack confidence. Confidence is not arrogance. Confidence is simply realizing and understanding that you have the power to succeed. During praise and worship we always recognize how awesome and powerful our God is. For the true Christian, confidence is simply recognizing that that same power resides in you as well.

Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me” (Phil 4:13). Most of us can quote that, but few actually live like we believe it. God has great plans for your life. He has already provided a way for you to achieve your goals. You can achieve anything in life that is God’s will. He already has the means for you to overcome bad situations. You can conquer anything in life if you do it God’s way. If you are a child of God, then be confident in Christ!

God's Guarantee-Friday Freedom

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

True born again believers have access to the Spirit of God. Through his power you can have all these wonder things in your life. This is true no matter what you have done, who hurt you, or what you have been through. The fruit of the Spirit abound in your life. Your bad attitude can be replaced by longsuffering (patience). Your misery can be defeated by God’s joy. Your bitterness can be driven out through the Lord’s kindness. Your hate can be overtaken by the love of Christ. Walk in the light. Let the love of God dwell richly in your life!

God's Guarantee-Thursday Thought

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” - Galatians 5:22-23
This is a good list. What are you doing to let these things be brought forth in your life? James admonishes us not be just hearers of the Word, but also doers (James 1:22). We make plans for everything else. We plan for our finances, taking vacation, making time for your hobbies, and exercise.  We make plans because we want the greatest results. We plan because we care about something. Do you care about your walk as a child of God?

Anyone can say they are going to do better. However words without action are meaningless. If you want the fruit of the Spirit to flourish in your life, you must make the necessary time to make that happen. You may have to miss your show so that you can go to Bible study. You may have to get up a little earlier to make time for prayer; Jesus did. You may have to give up some things that really don’t matter for issue of eternal gain. How important is pleasing the Lord Jesus to you?

God's Guarantee-Wednesday Word

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

The fruit of the Spirit. When someone says fruit most of us always think of the same things. Apples bananas, oranges, and so on. When we go to the store we want good, fresh fruit. Old, flimsy, withered fruit is disgusting and unappealing. Good fruit is the result of proper care. Good soil and continual watering are key.

Fruit is also defined as the effect or consequence of an action. So the effect of the Spirit operating in your life are the attributes listed above. These are the product of providing yourself the proper spiritual environment which includes everyone you spend time with and every influence you allow into your mind. These are the product of continually spending time in prayer and making time for Bible study. These are the product of yielding your entire life to the direction of the Holy Spirit of God. With God’s power and direction your life can be immeasurably more than what you think it can. Let this fruit abound in your spirit and in your life.

God's Guarantee-Tuesday Truth

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16 esv

God gives us all the power to live the Christian life correctly, but we still have to do our part. First we must truly want to please Christ. We can't pretend with God. He knows our hearts. Also we must be willing to follow God’s direction, whatever it may be. There is no success in the being a Christian through our own strength or outside of the Lord’s direction.

A successful life is fueled by diligence and submission. You must stay diligent in your effort to live for the Lord. Even when you fall get back up and keep going. You must be willing to say yes to whatever God is telling you, even when you don’t feel like it. Your diligence and submission to the Spirit's direction will yield great success in life. Just don’t give up. God loves you! Stay strong.

God's Guarantee-Monday Motivation

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14 esv

In Christ you have a guarantee. Before addressing spiritual warfare and marriage and family life God gives a guarantee to His people in the first chapter of Ephesians, The Holy Spirit. Paul tells us here that we have an inheritance coming to us which is total and complete redemption. One day, in the next life, we will be in the presence of God and He will make us just like Jesus. We will be holy, pure and, blameless.

Until that day God gives us His Spirit which is the mark of Salvation. Everyone who is saved has The Holy Spirit. Do you ever have times where you feel alone? Well in Christ you never are alone! Christ has promised His Spirit to you that will be a Comforter, Helper, Guide, and Friend! You don't have to live the Christian life alone. You can't live it alone! The Spirit, God's Spirit, is with you at all times!!!

Abundantly Blessed-Friday Freedom

the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints
Ephesians 1:18

If you are a true Christian, then you have been blessed greatly by the Lord. You have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Here Paul is praying for our enlightenment. Now that we have been blessed, we must seek God in the Spirit to understand exactly what those blessings are and how they apply to our lives (this means we have to study!). God’s people miss out on His best because we are too worldly-minded. But there are things that God has done for you that can not be affected by anything that happens on earth. Christ has redeemed you, given you new life, and also given you His Spirit, prepared good works for you, prepared a spiritual inheritance for you to receive, and the list goes on and on.
