Abundantly Blessed-Thursday Thought

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ
Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

Do you know just how blessed you are? Most of us do not. We waste time striving for what the world deems as blessings. But if you are a child of God then you have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ! We get down and discouraged often because our focus is on the wrong things. We focus on temporary stuff and temporary situations. But Christ has blessed us eternally. If more of us realized that our outlook on life would be much different.

The greatest blessings the Lord gives His children trump anything that happens to us in this life. Read Ephesians 1:3-23. Christ has redeemed us from alienation from God through sacrificing His life. God has predestined good works for those who trust Him. Your life is already handled; just follow God’s plan. Christ sent the Holy Spirit to live inside every Christian. The Spirit is the mark and guarantee of your salvation; you can’t lose it. The Spirit also helps you understand the Bible and brings it back to your memory; if you take time to study. Now Jesus is in Heaven at the Father’s right hand. We are Christ’s body and therefore positionally seated in Heaven as well. Wow. God’s grace is so awesome. Do you really understand just how blessed you are?

Abundantly Blessed-Wednesday Word

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV

We ask God and we wonder why we are not being ‘blessed.’ We get caught in the trap of materialism. God has done so much for us and we need to be more conscious of that. There are so many things the Lord has done for us, but perhaps the greatest is Him bestowing His grace on us. Our salvation is only the result of God’s awesome grace. He blessed us when we couldn’t help ourselves.

Not only has He given you His grace; God has lavished His grace on you. Ephesians 1:8 says God made His grace abound toward you in all wisdom and prudence. If you are like most people sometimes you may feel like you are not blessed. But never forget that God has blessed you immensely with His abundant grace among many other amazing things. Not only just in salvation, but God’s grace keeps you throughout your entire life. If you are a child of God, then you are blessed with God’s grace!

Abundantly Blessed-Tuesday Truth

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ
Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. We get caught in what we presume to be blessings. We look at what other people have and then question God. “Why are You not blessing me, Lord?” “Jesus, why are You holding good things from me?” Our minds are just focused on the wrong things. We waste time trying to get more stuff from God when He has already blessed us with everything we will ever need!

Spiritual blessings are better than material blessings. Stop looking around and look up. Forget about what things someone else has or what you don’t have and focus on all that God has done for you. In Christ you are eternally rich; regardless of what the bank statement says. You must be spiritually minded in order to understand these things, however. Get your focus off of the world and tune into all that Christ has for you!

Extremely Blessed-Monday Motivation

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ
Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

If you are a child of God, then you are blessed. You are blessed beyond anything you can imagine. Everyone that has accepted Christ as Savior has been blessed by God, as Paul says, with every spiritual blessing. Notice the past tense here. You have already been blessed with an abundance of spiritual blessings. God has been and is still very good to you. Through dedicated Bible study you can find out just what all those spiritual blessings are.

In Christ you have been restored out of alienation from God. In Christ you have been redeemed through His blood. Because you are saved you have been given the Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of salvation. These are just a few. In a world that is driven by materialism; we can easily get caught up in looking to God only for material ‘blessings.’ But the blessings we have access to are spiritual and are therefore far greater than any material thing. If you are a child of God, then you are truly blessed beyond measure!!!

Sanctify & Cleanse-Friday Freedom

“I want to walk worthy,
According to Your will.
Please order my steps, Lord,
And I'll do your blessed will.
The world is ever changing,
But You are still the same;
If You order my steps, I'll praise Your name!!!”

God orders the steps of the righteous (Psalm 37:23). If you have a heart for God, then there is nothing to fear in life. Trials come. Haters will continue to hate. Problems won’t go away. But the steps of a good man are ordered! Keep praising Jesus knowing that he is ultimately in control of everything. Walk with integrity and righteousness. Walk into God’s best. You can win the battle with sin. In Christ you already have the victory! Get in the Word. Let Christ clean you up!!!

Sanctify & Cleanse-Thursday Thought

Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
    and refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8 esv

Besides Christ, who else is there to follow? Human beings have an innate desire in us to follow someone or something. God made us to follow Him, but too often we go and seek direction from other things. We would rather pay a psychic, read horoscopes, or simply trust our own intuition to see what our next steps in life should be. Even when those things disappoint we still run back. This is especially sad for Christians because we have direct access to God through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Who are you following? If it not the Lord, then you are lost. The Lord gave you everything needed to follow His will through His Spirit and His Word. The Spirit helps us understand the Bible, tells us what to pray, and speaks to our spirits. You just have to be willing to listen. Even if you’re not following something else you’re still caught in the enemy’s trap if you’re not following God’s will. Stop trying to do it without God. Ask Him what to do then act on it. Then you will succeed! You can win the battle with sin. Get in the Word. Let Christ clean you up!

Sanctify & Cleanse-Wednesday Word

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 nkjv

We are called to live holy, Christ-like lives (1 Peter 1:16). This may sound impossible, but the good news is that we actually can. If you have been born again, then you are a new creation. You have a new life in Christ (Romans 6:11). When Jesus rose from the grave He vanquished your sin. He annihilated your past and gave you a fresh start. The Lord proved His absolute dominance over anything that weighs you down. In Him you are not a slave to your past or to your sins. As a child of God you are set free.

God has provided all you need to live a righteous life; His power through the Holy Spirit. If you continue to study His Word and have a heart for Him you will be progressively sanctified (Ephesians 5:26). Keep earnestly walking with Jesus and you will sin less. Some things that used to set you off will not affect you anymore. You will have a more fruitful life because you will desire what God desires for your life. None of us become mature over night, but over time Christ does make noticeable changes in our hearts and minds. You’re not perfect but praise God you’re not where you used to be. Continue to have a heart for God and become more like Him!

Sanctify & Cleanse-Tuesday Truth

that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish
Ephesians 5:26-27 esv

Do you believe that you are a saint? What is a saint? A saint is anyone who has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. In the beginning of Ephesians Paul refers to the Christians in Ephesus as "saints." So if you are true Christian, then you are a saint. Do you find that hard to believe? The word saint means, "sacred, morally blameless, and  ceremonially consecrated." Being a saint is not about what we do, but your saintliness comes from what God has already done for you in Christ.

In Christ God sets you apart for His purposes. He has already set you up for greatness. Your end goal in Christ will be total and complete perfection. Christ will make you just like Him in the next life. From now until then God wants to cleanse you. God desires to make you in practice what you already are in position through Christ; sanctified, holy, and pure. In Christ you already have the victory. And in this life, through the power of the Spirit and the Word, we can be continually cleansed as you move towards perfection. You can win the battle with sin. Get in the Word. Let Christ clean you up!

Ephesians 5:26-27 esv

Many of us know this passage as an example of the husband and wife relationship, however it is first a picture of Christ and His bride, the church. One day Jesus Christ will present His bride to Himself free of spot, wrinkle, or blemish. We will be totally pure and perfect. Throughout our journey in this life, however, God wants to continually cleanse us as we're on our way to complete perfection in the next life.

In this life the struggle with sin can be disheartening. We go up and down. We try and we fail. Sometimes our best just doesn't seem to work. But we have hope in knowing that one day, those of us who are true believers, will be made perfect and holy by Christ Himself. That is our goal we are moving towards. The end has already been proclaimed as victory. And in this life, through the power of the Spirit and the Word, we can be continually cleansed as we move towards perfection. You can win the battle with sin. Get in the Word. Let Christ clean you up!

Favor-Friday Freedom

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”
-Ephesians 2:4-5 NKJV

God’s grace is truly amazing. We once were lost in spiritual darkness. Just like someone stumbling around a pitch black room, we were just stumbling around in life. Not knowing where to go or what to do; just lost. But God gave us spiritual sight. You were dead, but God has given you new life! You were guilty, but God has justified you through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ! I don’t know about you, but just thinking about God’s amazing grace is uplifting, encouraging, and just gives me the strength to run on. Now we can truly sing with John Newton:

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
Than when we've first begun.”

Favor-Tuesday Truth

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

God’s grace is simply the result of His own goodness; not anything we have done. No one can brag about what they have done do receive their salvation. Why? Because no one can do anything to earn salvation. It is the gift of God to each of us. Never get caught up in the idea that a person can work to be saved. It is simply impossible.

When you were totally undeserving God extended His amazing grace to you through Christ. When you couldn’t help yourself the Lord took care of the situation. He provided the necessary atonement for salvation. God is always good to you no matter. You never have to work for God’s love. Jesus loves you unconditionally. Never forget that! Enjoy God’s grace and favor!

Favor-Monday Motivation

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God
Ephesians 2:8

God has saved you through His amazing grace! If you have accepted Christ as Savior, then this is true for you. Grace is God’s unmerited favor. When you didn’t deserve the favor of God He still bestowed it unto you. There was nothing you could do to earn it. Yet Jesus still gave His very life just for you.

If you have been born again, then you have a relationship with the Lord. God wanted to give you new life that passionately. He has heaped His favor on your soul. The grace of God is all that you need. If are a true Christian then you have God’s favor upon your life. Not just in salvation, but for your entire life. Enjoy your life. Enjoy God’s grace and favor!

New Life!-Friday Freedom

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

Christ offers new life to anyone that accepts it. When we accept Christ we become something totally new. We used to slaves to sin, but in Christ we are set free. None of our sin can define us. We identify with Jesus. When God looks at us He sees us through the blood of Christ. You have the potential do great things that will last for eternity. Why? Because when you accept Christ you become God’s child. If you are truly grateful for this spread the news. Go and tell somebody!

“People go through life without a worry
And they’re spending their time on earthly things
They need to know that through their life there is a purpose
To a dying world this message we must bring
Though we tend to feel security in our salvation
We should constantly think about the lost
There are people young and old dying and losing their souls
Without ever taking time to count the cost
So go and tell somebody!
Tell them that Jesus really loves them
He died for their sins!”

New Life!-Thursday Thought

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John14:6 ESV

Do you really understand what it means to be born again? This is the basis for our faith as Christians. The new birth of accepting Christ is what we are all about. The fact that we are born again should shape everything about us. Our new birth should permeate to every area of our soul and flood all areas of our lives. God has made us new creatures; dead to sin yet alive through Christ’s power. Take a moment and reflect just on your own personal sins. In light of your own sins; do you ever just think about how awesome that new birth (and freedom from that sin) is?

As we strive to please God in everything we must never lose focus. Fellowship is necessary. Singing and praise help us connect with God. But our ultimate mission is to tell people how to get eternal life! And the only way to do that is to be born again. And the only way to be born again is to accept Christ as Savior. In college I always did well when I participated in study groups. Why? Because I spent ample time explaining information to my peers. I was always talking about the material. It was always on my mind. When was the last time you told someone how to be born again? How often does it even cross your mind? Experience new life!

New Life!-Wednesday Word

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
John 3:3-5 ESV

The rebirth that God’s people endure is completely spiritual. It is just as true and real as our natural birth into mankind. Nicodemus was a great teacher of God’s laws and still didn’t understand this principle. Jesus makes His statement very clearly in this situation. The only way to know God and have eternal life is to be born twice. We must be born of water (natural birth) and of the Spirit (rebirth through accepting Christ.)

When Christians forget this essential truth it affects our witness. If we don’t keep in the forefront of our minds the fact that everyone must be born again to enter heaven, we may not be so fervent in our efforts to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have truly accepted Christ you have been reborn. Now it is up to you and all of us to spread this message. There is only one way to know God. You must be born again. Walk into and experience all that the new life in Chris brings. Spread the word!

New Life!-Tuesday Truth

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

In Christ you are not your past. New life in Jesus is an awesome thing the think about. We have to try and wrap our minds around this spiritual rebirth. We may look and feel the same naturally, but we have been made new in our spirits. We have joined Christ in dying to sin and thus have risen with Him into this new life. We don’t just feel new. We don’t just act new. We are made new. Children of God, we have been born again.

Old things are passed away. Your past is just that. The past. Nothing you’ve ever done can define or enslave you. The most vile and wretched person can be new in Christ. He has transformed murderers. He has saved adulterers. He will save and transform anybody. Do you want to live this new life? Understand that you are dead to sin. It has no power no power over you. No more than you give it! Enjoy and rest in the fact that you have been reborn spiritually in Christ.

New Life!-Monday Motivation

So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11 esv

In Christ we are born again! Unsaved people are dead in their trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1). Paul refers to them as sons (and daughters) of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2). The word ‘dead’ here carries the connotation of being unresponsive. Unsaved people are dead to God (all they can do is sin), but in Christ we have new life! Through Christ’s saving power we have life anew.

In Christ you are dead to sin! If you are truly saved, then sin has no power over you anymore. No more than you give it. You are dead to sin. You don’t have to give in. The habit that has been plaguing you for years. The mindset you want to break so badly. That thing…those things you hope no one ever finds out about you. None of these sins can enslave you! Child of God you are dead to sin and alive in Christ. The same power that conquered sin when Christ rose from the dead lives in you!

Conqueror-Friday Freedom

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

Not only did Jesus allow Himself to be murdered (wow, as if that isn’t enough to wrap our minds around), He allowed Himself to be killed on the Cross! In His time on earth the Cross was the most despicable and vile form of execution. If you’re reading this at work take some time to mediate on this alone later.

Stressed to the point of sweating blood. Slapped and spit on. The whip used had several leather straps with metal balls at the end. One physician says by the end of the flogging His back and legs were probably nothing more than an unrecognizable mass of torn bleeding tissue. Our Lord tried to carry His own cross, but the intense weight was too much as His body weakened from losing copious amounts of blood. An iron nail was driven firmly through each wrist and one through both feet. For hours He hung on that cross. For hours He hung there! Could you imagine the pain as those nails tore through His flesh? Pain was shooting through Christ’s body. Jesus’ blood came streaming down! His muscles gave out. Jesus suffocated. Our Lord cried, “It is finished” and surely He died on that cross.

When you read the words He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross think about what that really means! Jesus did that just for you! And in this Christ conquered death and gives us power over the sins that would otherwise enslave us!

-HC Armstrong

Calvary, Calvary
Calvary, Calvary
Calvary, Calvary
Surely he died on Calvary.
He hung His head and died,
He hung His head and died,
He hung His head and died for me.

One day when I was lost
He died upon that cross,

He hung His head and died for me.

Conqueror-ThursdayThought

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

Can we comprehend just how low Christ took Himself for us? This week we have been examining how much Jesus did for us. With each step He lowered Himself in an effort to redeem mankind. And now the Lord Almighty, Jesus, allows Himself to be killed. Christ left Heaven’s glory to come to this filthy world and be killed. This type of love and humility is far above human comprehension.

Death is the penalty of sin. Jesus is God and we know that He is absolutely holy and therefore without sin. What kind of love is this? It is the type that only God can give. Who else would die for the sins of the entire world? He took the penalty of your sins so you don’t have to. Do you understand just how incredible His stepping down is? He humbled Himself just to conquer sin and death in our behalf!

Conqueror-Wednesday Word

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:7-8 NKJV

After becoming a servant; Jesus made Himself in the likeness of men. He gave up His splendor and took on the appearance of a human being. This may not seem like a big deal until you really think about it. Think about how much greater a human is than an ant. If you were reduced to the greatness of an ant how would you feel? Compared to us ants are weak, insignificant, and virtually meaningless. How much greater the plunge from Almighty God in heaven down to this earth!

Next, Jesus humbled Himself. This may not seem like much unless you actually think about Who we are talking about. As humans we are required to humble ourselves. Sometimes to our parents, supervisors, and when we have made mistakes. But this is The Lord Himself we are talking about now! He needs to humble Himself to no one. Christ Jesus is the all-powerful self-existent God. Yet He did it anyway. Why? Because He loves you and me that much. Christ exercised humility and took on a role that was far beneath Him to come and save your soul. This is the true path to becoming a conqueror!!!
