Serve God-Monday Motivation

Fret not yourself because of evildoers;

    be not envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
Psalm 37:1-2 esv

Continue to trust God even when it seems like other people are just getting over in life without acknowledging Him. God's people always come out on top. The rest always lose in the end. Stay faithful!

Holiness-Thursday Thought

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship Romans 12:1 esv

What does it mean to be like Christ? Preachers talk about it. People sing about it. The term “Christ-like” has become very common in the local church. But what does ‘Christ-like” really mean? Too often we make the center of the Christian life our actions. We focus on the actions, but not a change of the heart. An attempt to change your actions without a change in your heart will always end up in failure.

Jesus’ life was sinless because He was always full of the Holy Spirit. Therefore His heart and mind were always on following the Father’s will. He constantly denied Himself and sought God’s plan. This is where we need to be. Stop trying to change your sinful actions and figure out the motives behind them. When you develop a deeper relationship with The Lord you will have no choice except living a more righteous life. Why? Because you are constantly giving God more of your heart. Does God have your heart? All of it? Your lifestyle is your answer.

Holiness-Wednesday Word

“Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” ~Hebrews 13:20-21

The Lord works in us what pleases Him, not us. At times that is a hard concept to grasp. We think we know what we want. We have an idea of how life should play out. We want all of our blessings to come quick and all of our experiences to be painless.

That is not how God works. We see the world with our limited knowledge. God sees everything through His omniscience and omnipotence. He knows what He is doing. There are reasons why He takes us the way that He does. He knows that the difficult experiences have potential to make us more like Jesus. What He is doing may not please you, but it pleases Him. Trust Him.

Holiness-Tuesday Truth

I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship Romans 12:1 esv

If you are a true believer, then God has called you to be different. God has called you to stand apart from the crowd. As Christians we are not meant to fit in. We are to represent Christ to the world. Jesus Christ stood out from the world and therefore so should we. How else can we show people the benefits of being a follower of Christ?

Our mission in this world is to be witnesses for Christ and lead others to knowing Him. If we act just like everyone else, then the world will see no reason to be saved. Living set apart is difficult sometimes, but the benefits outweigh the pain. Let your life be a testimony to the goodness of Jesus Christ. Why? So that others will want to know Him simply from watching you. Be separate. Be holy.

Holiness-Monday Motivation

I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship Romans 12:1 esv

There are benefits in standing up for Christ. God has called His children to be holy; to stand out from the rest of the world. This will cause dissension between you and some close relatives and friends. People who used to be close will not be so close anymore. But as those called by God to stand up for righteousness, we can not let how other treat us affect our responsibility to the Lord.

Don’t focus on other people. Focus on the Lord. What seems so difficult now will reap a great gain in the future. Don’t let your focus on other people block you from receiving all that God has for you. The world treated Jesus bad and you are His follower (if you are a born again believer). Expect the road to be tough sometimes. But also expect Jesus to bless you and give you what you need! Be holy.

Renewed Faith-Friday Freedom

And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Matthew 14:32-33 esv

The disciples have been spending ample time with Jesus. The Lord has worked miracles in, through, and for them on numerous occasions, yet they still had trouble believing in Jesus. In Matthew 8:27, after Jesus calmed the sea, the disciples asked, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?" They noticed something amazing about Jesus, but they still didn't fully believe. Well after this experience they got their answer. Now they knew for sure that Jesus is the Son of God.

You may have seen God work before in your life, but He longs to take you to a deeper level of faith. Faith is believing in God based on what you have already seen Him do. The greater He acts in your life, the greater your faith will be. You may know God, but He wants you to know without a doubt that He is Lord of all and that you can trust Him! Trust that He has a plan. Why? Because Jesus truly is the son of God and He cares for you.

Renewed Faith-Thursday Thought

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” –Matthew 14:31 (NKJV)

Do you understand what you’re asking God for? God exists on a level much…MUCH higher than ours. We must understand that in exiting of our comfort zones and reaching for Him will be unlike any other experience. We are attempting to be more spiritual in a physical world. Notice in our scene here that Jesus is out walking on the water while Peter is in the boat at first. We need to understand that we are nowhere near God’s level.

Man’s most intricate and complex achievements are much less than simple to the Lord. Basically, it is like we are just sitting in a boat and God is out walking on water. The former being something very normal, the latter being something wildly extraordinary. When we get ready to get closer to God we need to know that we will be leaving our comfort zones. This will include dropping old habits, friends, places, thoughts, desires, motives, and much more. It is difficult, but necessary. The worth of it is greater than I could explain. Are you ready to go higher? At all costs?

Renewed Faith-Wednesday Word

And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” Matthew 14:25-27

If you've ever sailed on a boat or lived by the ocean you know how violent storms can be on the water. On our honeymoon cruise I remember seeing professional experienced sailors struggle and get tossed all over by the wind and the waves. This is what has been happening to the disciples as they have been out on the sea from the early evening to the fourth watch of the night (around 3am). So for hours they are struggling and straining in this life threatening storm. They are exhausted, weary, and maybe even somewhat delirious. In the midst of their toiling what do they see? Christ Jesus walking on water! Yet, because their faith was low they couldn't see Jesus for who He really was. What should have caused joy ended up inciting fear, doubt, and worry.

Christ did not remove the storm., but by walking on water He proved Himself to be sovereign over the storm. If you look closely you will see Christ Jesus walking through the storms of your life. Marriages staying together despite hardship, peace of mind in the middle of a hellish job, eating everyday even though the money just isn't there. This isn't luck, this is Christ proving Himself in the middle of your storm! See Jesus building you up in life's most horrendous situations. Take heart. Christ is deepening your faith!

Renewed Faith-Tuesday Truth

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone Matthew 14:22-23

God allows to His people to endure violent storms in low places at dark times. After feeding the 5,000 Christ sent the disciples across the sea. Being God, He knew they would encounter a violent storm. The Sea of Galilee is 695 feet below sea level and it was evening. Jesus sent His disciples through a brutal storm at dark time and a low place. Why? So He could prove Himself to be God!

Sometimes we go through experiences that feel the same. Dark and low. These are the feelings that can accompany some of life's toughest storms. In their darkest hour Christ stepped in and proved Himself to be Almighty God in their situation, If you are experiencing a dark and low time right now understand God is setting you up to know Him at a deeper level, He wants to prove to you that He is all you need and strengthen your faith. Keep trusting God. He has a plan!

Renewed Faith-Monday Motivation

“So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.”- Matthew 14:29 (NKJV)

Walking on water. Sounds tough at first, but with God all things are possible. Many times Christians miss out on peace and joy because we are afraid to act on faith. Other times we step out and then worry, which also leads to failure. As Christians we should understand that through Christ we can do anything. If the Lord is calling us to do something, then through faith we can accomplish the task, no matter how small or great.

You don’t have to worry or fear. God’s calling may be new to you, but He already has the plan. Right now you may be feeling like Peter. Wondering if taking that step out of the boat is even possible. Would God call you to do something that wouldn’t work? Of course not! Have faith in Christ. Trust Him and come out of your comfort zone.

Stand Firm-Friday Freedom

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 KJV

You’ve prayed and cried. The past just will not stop haunting you. Pain and temptation are always there. And don’t get me started on other people’s opinions… Through it all just stand. Stand as a child of the living God. Your past is not perfect; no one’s is. You will make many mistakes along the way; everyone does. You won’t always be right; nobody is. But if you are a Christian, then Christ Jesus is on your side. Just stand knowing that the Lord is with you through it all. GOD ALWAYS REWARDS OBEDIENCE!!!

“What do you do
when you've done all you can
And it seems like it's never enough?
And what do you say
when your friends turn away,
you're all alone?
Tell me, what do you give
When you've given your all,
and seems like
you can't make it through?
You just stand…”

Stand Firm-Thursday Thought

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 KJV

What do you stand for? God created each and every one of us with an intended purpose. The only way to find this out is to seek Him. His ways, mindset, plans, and the like. So often Christians miss out on God’s best because they are afraid to stand up for Him. We fear ridicule, being different, or ostracized. But that is exactly what happened to Jesus!

Opposition can be a sign that you are standing up for the truth. Don’t run from it, but accept it as a necessary consequence. The world doesn’t like the truth, but it is still the truth. At the end of this life what will be more important; how many people liked you or that your life was a message to the world about who Jesus is? What do you stand for? Is it worth it?

Stand Firm-Wednesday Word

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” ~Psalm 118:6

If we get our attention off of the Lord it is very easy to get worried. People’s comments, bank statements, looking at what others have, and even our own thoughts can make us worry. Whenever we take our focus away from God we begin to doubt His power. But if God is with us doubt should be the farthest thing from our minds.

If you have been born again, then Christ is on your side. You are on the winning team, friend. Are you in right standing with Jesus? If so, then you can walk through life confidently knowing Who is fighting for you. No person, problem, or even your own imagination can overcome the Almighty God. The Lord is with you. Stand firm and represent Jesus Christ. Why would you fear?

Stand Firm-Tuesday Truth

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 KJV

Being a true Christian entails more than most people think. We are saved from sin and now have a personal relationship with God, but that is not all. Jesus promised that the world would hate you because it hated Him (John 15:18). We are commanded to study the Bible to live a life that is acceptable to the Lord (2 Tim. 2:15). Christ said that we are to carry our own cross DAILY (Luke 9:23). There is immeasurable peace, love, and joy that accompanies Christianity, but there is also much dedication and sacrifice involved.

Christ gave His very all for us and He just wants the same in return. No matter what the popular opinion is; we must stand for Jesus. Regardless of how you feel; still follow what you know Christ would want you to do. Do not base your life decisions on what others think, the culture, or even your own opinion. Stand for Jesus even if you feel you are standing alone. God always blesses obedience!

Stand Firm-Monday Motivation

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 KJV

There are heavenly rewards awaiting those who stand for Jesus Christ. In today’s society being firm for one’s Christian beliefs is becoming increasingly unpopular. Flagrant attacks toward Christianity are rampant. However we are still called to stand and represent our Lord. Jesus knows this is not easy, but it is necessary. Nothing compares to the results of standing up for God.

Christ stood for the right thing when virtually everyone told Him it was the wrong thing. Why? Because Jesus knew that He was in God’s will. The way He lived was approved by God and nothing else mattered. Because He stood for the truth God’s plan was accomplished; for His life and for all of us. God’s plan can be accomplished for your life also, friend. People may disagree with you…Wait, people will disagree with you. ‘Friends’ will think you are crazy. Sometimes you may feel like everyone you know is just at odds with you. Stand up for Christ anyway. God always blesses obedience!

All To Him-Friday Freedom

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 esv

Do you love Jesus? Then you should also trust Him. When we become children of God we are to give ourselves away to Him. We belong to Him. We are not our own. Along with being under His authority we also come under His divine protection. Think about why we love Christ; because of the ultimate sacrifice. We know He has our best interest at heart and that He alone has the power to sustain us. That is why you can confidently give your heart, mind, soul to the Lord. It all belongs to Him and He can do more with it than you can. Just trust God.

“My heart, mind, my soul belongs to You
You paid the price for me
Way back on Calvary
And yes I praise You
I lift You up
I magnify Your Name
That’s why my heart is filled with praise

I love You, I love You,
I love You Lord today…”

All To Him-Thursday Thought

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 esv

What does it mean to delight in the Lord? Psalm 37:4 is quoted by many on many occasions. People stress the importance of delighting in God. People stress how to get your desires fulfilled. But there is a big piece missing to this puzzle. How does one delight in God?

Delight means to have high satisfaction. I’m sure you probably love the Lord, but where does your satisfaction come from in life? Delight just doesn’t mean that you like Jesus a little bit, it implies that you look to Him for EVERYTHING. Take a good look at where you find satisfaction now. Are any of those things greater than God? Can any of things give you your heart’s desires?

All To Him-Wednesday Word

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” ~Psalm 37:1-2

Living for Christ is tough. What makes it tougher is when we focus on other people. Sometimes we see those who seem to be getting by. We work and work for Christ and others seem to be getting all the blessings; better finances, more fun, and what looks like a better overall lifestyle. We may deny it, but we think to ourselves, “Lord why am I doing all this work and they are getting all the blessings!?”

Firstly, we have to remember that other people’s affairs are not our business! God is in charge and He can do whatever He pleases. Secondly, we must hold to the fact that God’s greatest rewards are spiritual and they usually come through trials. Thirdly, we must never forget that worldly gain is absolutely meaningless. So even when someone seems to be getting by we know that the money, possessions, and the like will not last. It will all be cut down like grass. God has a plan for you, friend. God has rewards for you; in this life and in the next. Look to the Lord. Be about His business. Look only to the Lord.

When you give everything to The Lord He takes care of all your needs! Give it over to Him!

All To Him-Tuesday Truth

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 esv

You are still God’s child. For the Christian, no matter how mature you are, or how mature you think you are, God is still your Father. As with any child, this means that you must submit to your Father’s authority. You must do what He says even when you don’t feel like it. ALL your decisions must be ran by Him for approval.

Sometimes we get like teenagers and want to do our own thing. We get a little knowledge and now we can run our own lives. Then comes the inevitable disappointment. But we have to remember that giving everything over to God truly means every single thing. You give up your desires, but also your worries. You let go of your plans and your problems as well. You give God your life and all the anxieties that come along with it. Stop trying to do it alone. Run to your Father.

When you give everything to The Lord He takes care of all your needs! Give it over to Him!

God is truly an awesome God. As we all know He has performed great wonders throughout time and still is today. From the creation of this world to parting the Red Sea to Jesus’ resurrection and even us just having life at this very moment; the list goes on and on. This is the God that we all want to know and have a relationship with. He is the blessing God, the merciful God, and the forgiving God. However this is just part of God’s nature toward us.

When you give everything to The Lord He takes care of all your needs! Give it over to Him!
