Perfect Peace- Wednesday Word

You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
    because he trusts in you.

-Isaiah 26:3 ESV

Praying to Jesus and worrying about life issues are like oil and water. They cannot coexist. Just like the glass pictured above they create a divided mind split between trusting Jesus and trying to be our own God.

Our Healer-Friday Freedom

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

Lord help me understand that You allow pain into my life for good purposes. You use it to strengthen me and draw me nearer to You. I trust and believe that You are sovereign even when things aren't going my way

Our Healer-Thursday Thought

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

Pain draws us nearer to God because it allows us to see His great power in our lives. If your life was totally free of pain would you know Jesus as deeply as you do now?

Our Healer-Wednesday Word

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

God allows us to experience heartbreak so we can know His healing power. Pain in life, handled the right way, will grow us up and make us stronger. Keep trusting God!

Olympic Greatness-Friday Freedom

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. - 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Lord Jesus give me a greater passion for You! Help me to strive for godliness like Usain Bolt trains to run or like Michael Phelps trains to swim. Increase my zeal for You. Holy Spirit help me display greater discipline in my prayer life and in making time to meditate on The Bible. Athletes train for rewards that will perish one day, but You have rewards for Christians that will last forever! Thank you Jesus! AMEN

Olympic Greatness-Thursday Thought

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14 ESV

Just days ago runner Mo Farah tripped on another runner's legs and fell midway through the men's 10,000m race. But he did not let that stop him. He got back up, put his ALL into the race and won! Sometimes in life we get tripped up and fall down. We believe the enemy's lies that we are failures and that we can never win. But the setback you are facing right now may just be the impetus you need to keep pressing on for Christ! Have you ever thought about that?

Olympic Greatness-Wednesday Word

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14 ESV

In the 1992 Olympics runner Derek Redmond tore his hamstring during a semi-final race. Although he was in tremendous pain, he persistently limped towards the finish line. Seeing his son in tears, Derek's father came put his arm around his son and they walked together to the finish line. Redmond came in last place, but received a standing ovation from the crowd due to his dedication and persistence to completing his goal.

You may feel injured right now in the race of life. But understand that, if you are a Christian, then you don't have to run the race alone. Let The Father come along side you and see you through. Get back up, keep pressing, and keep trusting Jesus!

Olympic Greatness-Tuesday Truth

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 ESV

One thing that separates good athletes from elite athletes is determination. Great athletes push through pain to reach their goals. After accepting Christ the key to receiving God's best is simple, be persistent and be determined on seeking God's will. You will go through turmoil, but get back up and keep going!

Lord increase my zeal for godliness. Help me to strive for godliness like Olympic athletes strive for the gold medal. I want to be stronger in you. I want to win this daily battle with sin. Make me a stronger and wiser Christian. I want eternal rewards from You!

Look at the intensity of these Olympic runners and boxers striving to beat their opponent and go for the gold. Runners have only one thing in mind, the finish line. They are not running aimlessly. Boxers are not throwing punches at the air. They have a specific target they are intending to hit. Christians, be intentional in your walk with Christ. Strain towards godliness. Be specific in beating and overcoming your sin nature. Don't be disqualified. Your zeal for godliness is what proves your dedication to Jesus.

This is 21-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. During his training season Phelps actually spends more hours each day in water than out of it. He sticks to an amazingly strict diet and workout regimen. He is pictured above doing underwater kicking drills. In speaking about his discipline he says, "It's painful, but very effective."
Do you want to be rewarded by God? Immerse yourself in the Word. Train yourself in godliness. The training may be difficult, but the reward is worth the pain.

In ancient times the reward for Olympic-style games was a wreath. Today the highest prize is a gold medal. Both are perishable as they will not last forever. Paul encourages us here, as Christians, to have Olympic discipline in doing God's will. Athletes discipline themselves for a temporary reward, but God has eternal and everlasting rewards from us.

GO FOR THE GOLD!

For the next two weeks athletes from all over the world will be giving their blood, sweat, and tears for the gold. It takes extreme talent and discipline to obtain Olympic gold. Only a select few can achieve Olympic greatness, but all of us can obtain the imperishable rewards from God IF we practice discipline, devotion, dedication. Go for the gold. Go for God's best.

The Right Way-Friday Freedom

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1:1-2 ESV

Lord push me to be uncomfortable with sin in my life. Help me, through Your Spirit, to press toward Your blessings for me. Help me to meditate on Your Word. Lead in the way of life, love, and peace!

Psalm 1:1-2 ESV

The way to God's best is through meditating (thinking deeply on) the Bible constantly throughout the day. Our minds go nonstop. We're always thinking about something. What are you meditating on?

Psalm 1:1-2 ESV

Total relaxation. For many of us who profess being born again this is our attitude toward sin in our own lives. Notice the progression in the verse above. First the man is walking, then standing, then sitting. Sin gradually builds a stronghold in our lives. Only by daily being in God's Word and through prayer can we be sure this doesn't happen to us.
